5 ways to fix MacBook pro camera not working

Many of the applies desktops and laptops include a built-in web camera. However, if your
MacBook web camera is not working, and displays as disconnected or unavailable when
attempting to access it, here’s what can do to try and get it back up and running.

A. CHECK FOR APPLICATIONS USING THE CAMERA


SIMULTANEOUSLY

We know that the MacBook camera is turned on automatically by the applications that use it.
But what’s important to note is that only a single application can utilize the camera at the
same time. So, when you have your webcam not working, make sure you are not able to use
the camera because of some other third-party application is using it at that moment-
1. Launch activity monitor from application
2. Limit all other open applications that might be using the camera
3. If yours not sure which application is using the camera saves your work close to all
the applications.

B. Restart your MacBook


If quitting applications does not solve the issue, there might be an av chance that some
activity/process is using the camera in the background. A simple restart will certainly resolve
the issue.
For this:
1. Select the application in the top menu bar.
2. Click restart.

C. RESET YOUR MAC’S SYSTEM CONTROLLER


If the camera still not works and nothing of the above seems to help, you may try resetting
the system management controller (SMC). it manages a lot of hardware functions on your
MacBook and simply rebooking it may help you with the problem.

Just follow these steps-


(it involves a two-step process)
1. Shut down your MacBook
2. Press and hold the power button for ten seconds.
3. Release the power button and wait a few more seconds.
4. Turn the MacBook on again

If the issue still exists, proceed to the second part below.

for seven seconds.
3. while still holding the keys press and hold the power button for 7 more seconds.
4. release all and wait a few more seconds.
5. turn the Mac on again.

D. Force quit your MacBook's apple

needed and most often within software hangs, it transmits such a bug across all
camera needed apps, denying it’s use-
 
End all applications accessing the camera
In the Spotlight search tab, launch terminal, type (pseudo kill all UDC Assistant), press
enter confirm solution by running any camera dependent app
 
E. Update your apps and mac OS
There are chances that the problem due to which your MacBook pro camera not
working is identified by the apple team and is fixed in their latest update. So, updating
all apps from the Appstore may resolve the issue.

F. Go to service center
Trying all the above-said ways and if the problem persists, then the last option is to
visit an Apple technician. They offer free technical support and they will have a
solution to their problem.
