To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to apply for the 2nd and 4th Grade teacher opening that was advertised. I am a recent
graduate of South Dakota State University, with a degree and teaching certification in Early
Childhood Education, a Kindergarten endorsement, along with certification in Elementary
Education that I received from Dakota State University. I am also in the progress of completing
an ELL Minor. I believe that I would be a great addition to Centerville School District’s
community and staff not only because I am passionate about education but also because I want to
inspire students to strive for success. Every student deserves to have to have a positive learning
environment and it is my goal to nurture and influence their success. I will strive to help them
apply their experiences inside the classroom to their lives outside of it by making space for
everyday cooperative learning, social skill development, and an inclusive environment.

As an undergraduate student at South Dakota State University, I took numerous courses in child
development, assessment and curriculum, literacy and numeracy, documentation, and
educational methods. I practiced the skills and theory I learned in the classroom in several
different educational positions including: assistant teaching in a three- and four-year-old
preschool classroom; student teaching in a kindergarten; and practicum experiences in
kindergarten, first and third grade classrooms. I am currently completing my student teaching
experience in a third-grade classroom in the Elkton School District.
