3° Biology Bayard

TASK 1: Read the story and answer the questions:

I was in cell biology class when the teacher said:

"guys put away everything, today is the DNA replication test"
There and then I panicked! I had completely forgotten that today we had the test and I
hasn't studied! I run and quickly sat with Dani. Obviously, Dani knew so much about replication,
she had participated a lot in class lately.
The teacher gave us the questions. I couldn’t remember anything, what an ugly feeling. I
approached Dani gently and began to read what she had written and worrying that the teacher
wouldn’t see me.
Dani seemed sure, she was writing quickly but she had realized that I was reading her
exam. As we are very close friends, she didn't say a word and put her sheet so I could read it
better from my sit. I began to copy the answers that Dani was writing. I just finished with the
sound of the bell.
The following class, the teacher projected the following vignette:

And she said:

“I was marking the exams and I had a sense of deja

vu, it seemed to me that what I already had read it
somewhere else.
That's why I compared all the exams and found out
that there was something strange.
It was evident that there were students who copied,
since I found at least one DUPLICATE exam, and I
couldn't help seeing the analogy with the subject that
we studied, so it occurred to me that we do an activity”

a. Complete the chart by answering the questions that arise in the copying process. For now,
leave the right column of the box blank.

Replication of genetic
Copying process Copy on the test
material

Who is approaching to copy?

What was copied?

What is the product obtained

after copying?

Could there be errors when

the copy is made?
Are there different kinds of
errors? Which?

How is the information

coded?

What is the reason for

making the copy?

b. Taking into account the story, how do you define the replication of the genetic material?
c. How do you imagine the DNA replication?
d. Search for information about DNA replication and complete the right column.

TASK 2:
Write an explanation that your grandmother could understand about DNA replication.
