EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Tabuk City is known as the Rice Granary of the Cordillera. Climate change
has brought deviations on rice productions and as a result, some farmers decided
to produce other crops. Farmers also learned to embrace the use of machineries
to lessen workload and make the whole production convenient. In line with this,
integrated farming has been introduced by the Office of City Agriculture and
Services to assist the community to earn during the waiting period of harvest.
According to the department of Agriculture, only 1 percent of farmers in the
Philippines engaged in mushroom production as it is not familiar to them thus this
proposal has been purposely done to provide information and understanding on
the benefits and advantage of producing such plant crops compared to the
others.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
The mushroom production I chose to focus on is now being recognized as an off
shoot of the Clemencia Farm owned by 4-time GAWAD SAKA awardee Honorio
Clemencia, located at Balong Tabuk City Kalinga. As a matter of fact, my interest
brought me to participate in several trainings and now made me a certified
Trainor for RCEF ( Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund), Trainer for both
Spawn, Mushroom Production and Processing. At the same time, I am also a
resource person of the Department of Trade and Industry and Agrofood Research
Center Balong Tabuk City.Later, I was able to organize a group of interested
individuals the Ytaga Organization, to concentrate on the said plant crop because
of the following reasons:
-Mushroom is an anti-cancer plant crop
-the production of it does not require large area
- It has high price in the market
-good substitute for meat
-It is eco-friendly because it lessens rice straws being burnt- (rice straws are being
used for substrating)
-Materials for the production can be found anywhere
- It is easy to maintain, all ages can do it.
- The harvesting time can be as early as 30 days
My edge in mushroom production compared to other producers- is the
establishment of a stable market for raw mushroom on the 4rth month at the
Dagupan Public Market and Bulanao Tabuk City Kalinga. In addition, I was able to
come up with varieties of mushroom products like Mushroom Chicharon,
Mushroom mini Cookies, Mushroom Pasta, Mushroom Polvorons, Mushroom
Chili Paste, Mushroom bagoong which is now being sold in the Market therefore
there is the need for additional funding, from any agency, institution, private
sector and government office for financial support to be able to produce and
supply the increasing demand of consumers.

Since Mushroom is an all year round plant crop and with the growing demand of
mushroom supply, the organization will continue to accept members who will be
interested to learn and train promising members to become trainers for future
expansion to other neighbouring provinces.
