TOPIC: DISCUSSION STRATEGIES AND TALK IN THE LITERACY

Discussion Highlights:

A. Monitoring and Evaluation Report

The Grades 4-6 teachers were gathered together for the discussion about focusing on the
comprehension Skills of our learners.
Our facilitator in Science group checked our attendance and started facilitating our group.
Good Practices Shared

On our first LAC session about PRIMALS, our Principal - Maam Leonora Alinsub discussed to
us the strategies to use to focus on comprehension skills of our learners.

Challenges Shared
Our Principal grouped us by level. We share ideas and experiences regarding the different
scenarios happened to our learners in each classroom. We have different scenarios but have the
same problem which is the comprehension skills of our lessons.

B. Lessons Learned and Insights or Realizations

The team discussed the plans for the enhancement of literacy program in our school
especially in handling our pupils during Science subject.
C. Major Points
Topic Matters Arising and Agreements or What to Do Next
IDENTIFYING STRATEGIES AND ACTIVITIES THE TEAM COLLABORATED WELL AND GAVE THEIR
ENHANCING LITERACY PROGRAM THOUGHTS AND IDEAS ON HOW TO COPE UP ON A
GOOD SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.
D. Next Steps
We plan to implement these strategies in our classes to be able to know if these strategies
and activities are effective or not.

DESCRIBE THE INQUIRY APPROACH AND 5ES TEACHING STYLE

TOPIC: MODELING IBL AND 5ES TEACHING CYCLE

Discussion Highlights:

A. Monitoring and Evaluation Report

In this week’s LAC session, our Principal- Maam Leonora Alinsub described and discussed to
us the inquiry approach and the 5es teaching cycle as an active and enjoying way to teach
learners in Science lessons.

Good Practice Shared

Our Principal discussed the uses of our curriculum guide on how to subtopic the main topics
or the learning competencies. She was then connect the learning competencies to the inquiry approach
and 5es style as strategies in teaching our Science lessons.
She was able to view us also the explanation of the said approaches from the PRIMALS
National training.

Challenges Shared
Our Principal gave us some workshops to be demonstrated in front and use the 2 approaches
on the topics that we will choose. It is one way also to show if the said approaches are effective
on that particular lesson.

B. Lessons Learned and Insights or Realizations

We were able to learn the inquiry approach and the 5es teaching cycle which are to engage,
explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate.
C. Major Points
Topic Matters Arising and Agreements or What to Do Next
DISCUSSION ABOUT THE ibl and WE HAVE A GOOD DISCUSSION ABOUT HOW TO
5es teaching cycle HANDLE THE DIFFERENT APPROACHES IN OUR
LESSONS.
D. Next Steps
We teachers will try to use the said approaches in our Science lessons.

RECOGNIZING THE CRITICAL ROLE OF ASSESSMENT IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

Discussion Highlights
A. Monitoring and Evaluation Report

Our Master teacher, Maam Lourdes P. Mallorca gave us some insights and ideas on
recognizing the critical role of assessment especially the formative assessment in teaching our
learners.

Good Practices Shared

Our Speaker discussed to us the different types of formative assessment. She also shared to
us that Formative Assessment is the basis of our teaching strategy in Science if our learners
understand the topic/s being discussed

Challenges Shared
The Science teachers were grouped according to their grade level and were given activities to
make different types of formative assessment from the topics we chose on our Daily Lesson Log.
This activity will be useful to see if the said assessment is effective or not for our learners.

B. Lessons Learned and Insights or Realizations

After the said activity, we were able to share our insights and ideas to make appropriate
assessment tool for our learners.
C. Major Points

DIFFERENT TYPE OF FORMATIVE WE WERE TSKED TO MAKE DIFFERENT TYPES OF
ASSESSMENT FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT WITH THE CHOSEN TOPIC

D. Next Steps
We will use the different types of formative assessment in our Science lesson so that we will
not just be traditional on our way of teaching. These assessments will help us teachers to
know if we will move on to the next lesson or not.
