Project Name: Allied Mills - B2B SaaS Implementation

2. Solution Overview:

The IBM Managed Services ALLIED MILLS solution involves hosting an e-commerce
environment for ALLIED MILLS and its Trading Partners. Data between IBM and ALLIED
MILLS is transmitted via a VPN tunnel over IP connection using the Managed Services
Connect Direct solution. Data flow between IBM and ALLIED MILLS’s Trading Partners will
be transmitted via VAN Interconnect and Managed AS2. On the Trading Partner side, the
document format is EDI. On the ALLIED MILLS side, the document format is ERP Flat Files.

An overview of the ALLIED MILLS solution is shown below:

3.1. ALLIED MILLS Inbound Document Flow

The following diagram shows the inbound data flow for the ALLIED MILLS solution. A step by
step description follows the diagram.

1.1.1. Inbound Description:

1. Trading Partners send EDI data via the VAN Interconnect.

2. Trading Partner data is routed to GIODE through an MQ connection (SYZDQAMP).
3. GIODE extracts incoming TRADACOMS files and translate those into ERP Flat Files as
expected by ALLIED MILLS.
4. Translated ERP Flat Files are sent to Connect Direct’s */alliedmillsprod/inbound
directory.
5. IBM Commerce Connect Direct pushes all inbound data to ALLIED MILLS’ Connect
Direct via Connect Direct application.

3.2.1. Outbound Description:

1. IBM Connect Direct picks up outbound ERP Flat Files from ALLIED MILLS’ Connect
Direct “outbound” directory.
2. IBM Connect Direct delivers the outbound data to GIODE.
3. GIODE translates the ERP Flat Files to EDI (TRADACOM) data.
4. The EDI data is routed to the Trading partners as below:
a. Commerce Network MQ slot SYZDQAMP.
b. MAS2 connection.
5. IBM Commerce Network delivers the outbound EDI to appropriate Trading Partners
based on standard VAN interconnects.
