GLA Welcomes Uruguayan Counsel Sabrina Verónica Peláez Iglesias

Team to Collaborate on Rule of Law & Anti-Corruption Matters

Alexandria, Virginia - The Global Liberty Alliance (GLA) is excited to announce that
noted Uruguayan jurist and practicing attorney Sabrina Verónica Peláez Iglesias and the GLA
will work together on rule of law and anti-corruption projects in South America.

“It is an honor that I have been invited to participate in such a noble project that is
carried out with colleagues from all over Latin America. They will always have an ally, from the
possibilities that our profession offers, in my person as regards contributing to the defense of
fundamental rights and democracy, to avoid corruption and strengthen human dignity,” said
Sabrina Verónica Peláez Iglesias.

Defense of private property rights and the rule of law is helping fuel economic prosperity
in South America. Yet over many decades, bad actors from other regions continue to hide out,
seeking safe havens in the Americas. For example, Hezbollah exploits the banking sector,
particularly in the Tri-Border Area of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. Cuba and Venezuela -
client states of Russia and China - engage in activities that undermine the inter-American system
and U.S. national and security interests; they invite other bad actors, such as Iran, to do the same.
A GLA Lawyers’ Blog post discusses Israel’s call for Uruguay to declare Iran a state supporter
of terror.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with Sabrina in defending the rule of law and
combating corrupt practices in South America, especially as it relates to exposing terror networks
and human trafficking, illegal activities that undermine regional and U.S. interests,” said Jason
Poblete.

The Global Liberty Alliance is committed to defending fundamental rights and the rule of
law. You can find more information about the work that GLA is doing to defend private property
and the rule of law on the GLA blog, Facebook page, or Twitter account.
