The first academic institution to benefit from the new partnership is a community school in
Senegal.
Dubai Cares, part of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has signed a
partnership agreement with Amadeus Gulf to deliver quality children and young adults living in
underprivileged communities in developing countries.
The first academic institution to benefit from the new partnership is a community school in
Senegal. According to figures taken from Index Mundi, Senegal has a literacy rate of just over
50% and low enrolment rates for primary and secondary education.
H.E. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO at Dubai Cares said: “Despite progress over the years, Senegal’s
education system faces major challenges which include regional disparities in school enrolment
and completion, low levels of learning outcomes, outdated curricula, poor learning conditions
and linguistic barriers to name a few.
“Amadeus’ support of our ‘Adopt a School’ initiative will, without a doubt, make a genuine and
tangible impact on the lives of Senegalese marginalized children, their families and
communities. We at Dubai Cares value Amadeus’ contribution which reflects the significant role
that the corporate world plays in support of a common cause”.
In addition to committing key financial resources, Amadeus Gulf is also encouraging 30 of its
customers based in the region to generously donate funds to the initiative as well. The funds
were raised by Amadeus team members selling raffle coupons to their friends and families.
Graham Nichols, managing director of Amadeus Gulf, said: “While our 30th anniversary is a
time to reflect on our company’s past, we wanted to take this opportunity to look to the future.
"Partnering with Dubai Cares enables us to make a clear impact on local communities by
empowering the next generation with the skills they need to thrive. We would like to thank our
customers, as well as Dubai Cares, for their partnership in making this project a reality.”
