1. PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE AND OSERVATIONS

I felt the class was a little more giddy than normal which could have been addressed from the offset
of the class. Get all the student seated as quickly as possible and sitting quietly waiting for further
instruction. I need to be more firm at the beginning of the class to set the tone.
It was mentioned after my inspection 2 weeks ago that I need to introduce more higher order
questioning to the student that might be that bit more advance and is looking to be challenged by a
tougher question.
The numeracy and literacy in the classroom do need improvement which can be greatly improved
with a quick worksheet or quiz.
Another beneficially bit of advice for the class was to take a breather throughout the break of a
double to allow the students to take time out and take a rest for themselves. I need to make sure that
once the break is over and the class is ready to begin, I need to announce and make total sure that
the students know the class has once again began.
Alternatively, I could use the break in the double to introduce the numeracy or literacy activity into
my class. This is ideal as the class is taking a well needed break from the practical but at the same
time are learning and improving on their literacy and numeracy skills.

2. LESSON RATIONALE

Brief outline of approach for lesson KEY*

Engage in a class discussion in the what they may know in relation to the parts, functions
and safety procedures for the different types of saws and chisels. Engage the class in a recap
discussion in what marking out tools they have complete to date. I am intending to move
onto processing tools such as the saws, paring tools, drilling tools, shaping tools, striking
tools and clamping tools. I want to cover the processing tools as swiftly as possible while
making sure they all have a in depth knowledge in hand tools as they need to know the
parts, correct methods in using and health and safety while using the tools in the practical
classes.
I also need to find out where are the design roots activity books are kept? Do they have
them in the lockers or are they kept in the classroom.
