After completing readings and activities regarding
the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King
Jr., students will download and use the Pixton Comic
Maker App to create a storyboard illustrating some
of Dr. King’s contributions to the American civil
rights movement in the 1960’s.
The teacher will provide students a list of
contributions to choose from including boycotts, sit-
ins, marches, and speeches. After reviewing app
functions, students will use the graphic storytelling
tool within the app to illustrate these historical
events. Ideally, students will work individually
however, in some instance’s students may be
required to work in groups as large as two. Students

amongst their classmates.
The teacher will review app functions and uploading
instructions.
Students will then use the app to upload their files
and comment on a minimum of two of their
classmate’s creations, being sure to respond in
complete sentences. Student responses should be
no fewer than three sentences in length.
Teachers should monitor collaborations, responses,
and encourage good digital citizenship practices.
