ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the effects of the academic concerns
on the academic performance of the Grade 12 Students. Conducting this study is
important for us to know the strengths and weaknesses of our students together with
our teachers that directly affects the learning effectivity.

In this investigation, the researchers gathered data regarding the perceived


effects of academic concerns on the academic performance of the students, using
survey questionnaires. The gathered raw data were arranged and sorted according to
their corresponding categories. Computed average weighted mean were interpreted by
the researchers using the descriptive equivalents in Likert Scale to be able to draw
generalizations and conclusions about the investigation. The final outcomes, which
are the findings, conclusions and recommendations will be reported and can be used
for further studies and also as a basis for proposed programs which aims to improve
the general studying skills of our students and teaching effectiveness of our teachers.

Based on the findings of the study, the following are the conclusions drawn by
the researchers: First, the Grade 12 Students of Manaoag National High School, have
diverse set of academic concerns, that are from themselves, from their teachers and
from their learning environment. Among the three factors identified by the
researchers, majority of the dominating concerns of the students fall under the learner
factor, that has also the biggest perceived effect in their academic performance,
followed by concerns coming from their teachers and lastly, from their learning
environment. Second, in terms of the effects of the students’ concerns on their
learning experience, the results revealed that academic concerns among students have
evident effects towards their academic performance.
