Hse Campaigns Healthcare: Upcoming Meetings
Hse Campaigns Healthcare: Upcoming Meetings
Healthcare
The British Safety Council is developing its membership with organisations who
operate in the healthcare sector. The healthcare sector interest group
comprises senior representatives drawn from our member organisations in the
UK.
Overall the aim of the group is to increase the influence of the British Safety
Council and our members as an authoritative voice on health and safety,
including with key stakeholders such as government and the regulator, and in
line with our vision as a charity that ‘no-one should be injured or made ill at
work’.
Upcoming meetings
The intention is that the group should meet as a minimum twice within a
calendar year for up to half day meeting, which will address major health and
safety policy issues and regulatory matters affecting our healthcare members
and provide the opportunity for them to share knowledge and good practice.
Manufacturing
The British Safety Council has strong membership representation in the
manufacturing sector. The manufacturing and distribution sector interest
group comprises senior representatives drawn from our member organisations
in the UK.
The group meets two to three times in per year. The half day meetings cover
major health and safety policy issues and regulatory matters affecting our
construction members, as well as providing the opportunity for the knowledge
sharing and good practice.
To find out more please contact manufacturing.sig@britsafe.org.
Construction
The British Safety Council has strong membership representation in the
construction sector. The construction sector interest group comprises senior
representatives drawn from our member organisations in the UK.
As an organisation committed to working closely with our members, it was
decided in 2011 to set up a sector interest group to enable our members to
engage more directly with us and each other on key health and safety issues
and challenges. This forum is also used to engage with other key stakeholders
including the government, the regulator and other bodies active within this
area in the construction sector.
Initially the group met twice yearly, this has now been increased to quarterly.
The half day meetings cover major health and safety policy issues and
regulatory matters affecting our construction members, as well as providing
the opportunity for the knowledge sharing and good practice.
Stadia
The British Safety Council is developing its membership with organisations who
operate and run events in stadia. The stadia sector interest group comprises
senior representatives drawn from our member organisations in the UK.
The Stadia Sector interest Group meet twice per calendar year for a full day
meeting, which will address major health and safety policy issues and
regulatory matters affecting our Stadia members and provide the opportunity
for them to share knowledge and best practice.
Active consultations
Consultations are a key vehicle to influence Government policy and regulator.
It’s a high priority for the British Safety Council to be at the forefront of any
planned consultations, sharing its knowledge and experience on behalf of our
members to make sure the legislative and policy framework remains effective.
Thanks to our close ties with the British government's Health and Safety
Executive, we're able to influence the direction in which policy shifts. It's this
understanding of the wider context in which health and safety legislation is
formed, that gives British Safety Council members such an advantage.
We will continue to engage with government and the regulator, using our own
and our members' knowledge to influence the direction of health and safety
policy and law.
If you wish to provide us with your views on these proposals or any other
official consultations, please email policy@britsafe.org.
