Hello, Junior Kindergarten Families,

We had a great day starting with sharing what we look for in a buddy during Conversations. Friends shared a buddy is someone
who helps, shares, plays, and cares about them. After Conversations, we played Don't Wake the Dragon which is a game that
involves the students pretending they are villagers that must complete a task in order to scare a dragon away! The task today
was they had to line up in order of height and do this quietly so they did not wake the dragon (a.k.a. Ms. Madilyn)! After we
lined  up in order of height, the students said, "Boo!" in order to scare the dragon away and keep their village safe. After playing
this interactive game, students discussed ways we worked as a team and ways we could improve working as a team. Friends
shared that they thought we could pay attention more to completing the task instead of keeping our eyes on the dragon, that
we could pick a leader to help friends figure out where to go in line, and that we could stay in our spots in line until our team
finishes the task. We also agreed that while this was a difficult task to complete, we did a great job because we scared the
dragon and saved our village!

A quick note about the rest of our day included, we strengthened our fine motor and math skills with Turkey Clothespin Math
and went over how to label parts of a turkey during Literacy. After Math and Literacy, we went on a beautiful walk during Fun
Fitness!

In the afternoon, we read The Homework Hassle by Jan and Stan Berenstain during Book Study. While reading this Berenstain
Bear book, we find out that 'Mama and Papa Bear are stunned when they receive a letter from Brother Bear's teacher. Even
though Brother Bear sits down diligently every night with an open notebook, he has not been completing his work assignments.
After taking a closer look, Mama and Papa realize that there's a whole lot of competition going on for Brother's attention. He's
watching TV, listening to his boom box, talking on the cell phone, and playing a video game.' Brother Bear is enjoying privileges
but not doing the things he has to do first. We discussed how someone who is responsible will do what they have to first and then
enjoy privileges if there is time. Brother Bear had this switched around with enjoying privileges before getting done with his jobs
but soon figured out by the end of the reading how important it is to be responsible. He learns that doing your responsibilities on
a daily basis is better than having it pile up.

At the end of the day, we enjoyed Technology Tuesday, center time, and having extra playing time outside in the beautiful
weather!

Tomorrow, we look forward to singing, dancing, and reading with Ms. Katherine during Library! If you'd
like your child to check out books throughout this school year during Library time, you only need to
email a picture of a family library card number or send the card itself once in your child's folder.

Have a great day,
Becky and Madilyn
