Support Side By Side by Signing Your Heart Out

Support the Virginia Communities Where LQBTQ+ Youth can Define Themselves, Belong, and
Flourish

HARRISONBURG, VA,  Next month Side By Side, a youth organization, will be putting on
a karaoke contest to benefit the organizations mission. Side by side supports the Virginia
communities where LGBTQ+ youth can define themselves, belong, and flourish. All the
proceeds from the event will support Side By Side. This event, titled, Sing Your Heart Out, will
take place at Brothers Craft Brewing. Side By Side encourages the Harrisonburg community,
LGBTQ+ members, and their supporters to join them for this event.

Side By Side is working with Brother Craft Brewing to host a karaoke contest with the vison of
continuing the creation of supportive communities at heart. This event will take place on March
25th in the 2nd story loft within Craft Brothers Brewing. The contest will be from 1-5 p.m. To
enter the contest a registration fee of $15 must be paid through the Side By Side website. The
event will also entail a 50/50 raffle, and donations will also be accepted throughout the event. All
contributions will be directly applied to Side By Side. Free parking for the event can be found
directly in front of the main entrance of Craft Brothers Brewing.

Formally known as the Richmond Organization for Sexual Minority Youth, Side By Side works
to provide a community where LGBTQ+ youth can be their true selves and thrive. Side By Side
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering their mission. Since its beginning in 1961,
Side By Side has given Virginia youth in the LGBTQ+ a community of support.

Early this year several of Side By Sides’ youth community members participated in the Change
Conference. Zoe, one of those participants said “Attending Creating Change gave me a sense of
liberation knowing that people respected my identity and could connect with me and learn with
me during the different workshops”.

Side By Side works hard to establish a supportive community for all LGBTQ+ youth throughout
Virginia. LGBTQ+ refers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questionable people. The “+”
acknowledges that there are many additional identities. Side By Side is dedicated to support, and
promote flourishment.
