The Water Cycle

https://www.slideshare.net/venyde84/the-water-cycle-for-elementary
Lesson Content:
The  water cycle  or hydrologic is a continuous cycle where water evaporates, travels into the air and becomes
part of a cloud, falls down to earth as precipitation, and then evaporates again. This repeats again and again
in a never-ending cycle. Water keeps moving and changing from a solid to a liquid to a gas, over and over
again.

Notes:
What is the Water Cycle?
 The water cycle is a way that water moves all around the Earth.
 The water cycle does not stop and it does not have a beginning, it is like a big circle.
Stages of the Water Cycle
 The water cycle has four important stages.
1. Evaporation:
Evaporation is when the sun heats up the water in the seas, river, lakes or oceans and turns it into
water vapor or steam and rises up into the air.
2. Condensation:
Condensation means that water changes from a gas (water vapor or steam) to liquid ( water
droplets) forming clouds. Clouds contain millions of tiny droplets of water.
3. Precipitation:
As time goes by the water keeps condensing to form clouds but when there is too much water in
these clouds they become heavy. This means the can no longer hold this much water and the water
starts to fall back to Earth in the form of rain.
4. Collection or Water Storage:
This is the last stage of the water cycle and in this stage rain flows back into water bodies such as
rivers, seas, lakes or oceans.
Skills: Observing a video, Explaining the water cycle
Attitudes: Appreciation of the water cycle, Respect for each other, Sharing with other

Suggested Activities/Procedures:
Introductory Activities (5 mins.):
Students will share their response to the question “Where do you think water comes from?”

Developmental Activities/Procedures (30 mins.):

Students will:
- Listen to the water cycle song
- Elicit from children what they learn from the song
- Invite children to watch a video and observe the “water cycle”
- Share their views about their observation
- Explain how the cycle works
- Pair children and let them explain to one another

Culmination & Closure (10 mins.):

Students will draw the water cycle while singing along to the song about the water cycle
