Wellness Medium and Your Wellness Plan

1. What medium have you chosen? Please describe and/or attach/upload visual.

2. What does this medium represent to you? Why? Please describe why this is meaningful.

This image is of a person practicing yoga. For me, this is meaningful because yoga is a

way for me to relieve stress and tension. It helps me to re-center and refocus. It also is a

physical workout which helps keep me in shape and release endorphins. There have been

many studies that prove that exercise is good for both physical and mental health. It keeps

our bodies healthy. For me, I have never loved contact sports or running or lifting weights. I

grew up dancing all my life. Similar to yoga, it provides physical exercise, but it is also an

art form that allows you to express yourself. Yoga is a practice that has been well established

for hundreds of years. When I practice it, I feel grounded and rooted. I am reminded of what

is important in my own life and I am able to remove all distractions. I am also able to grow

in physical strength and in my ability to think clearly and reprioritize. The image above

shows a person practicing yoga and she is growing roots as well as growing like a tree. This

is great imagery for what I previously described about how I feel when I personally do yoga.

3. Post your personal wellness commitment statement and plan to care for YOU below. Be

specific.

My plan of care for myself is to go to at least two yoga classes per week. There are

multiple different yoga studios in Tucson that I have visited and enjoyed. I have done a few

different types of yoga including vinyasa and hot yoga. I like each one equally but for

different reasons. I think that if I could get myself to go twice a week, that I would feel more

in-shape, more energized, and more focused on my priorities. I think this is reasonable as I

am pushing myself to do more, but not asking too much of myself. This would also be an

affordable limit for myself. I think I could achieve this goal and feel really good about it.
