New Mirrors of Heroism

By: Vernish Anne S. Sy

Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, calibre, and future of an individual. If
the people remember me as a good teacher, that will be the biggest honour for me,'' - Dr APJ Abdul
Kalam.

As we venture into another new and exciting school year, Clark Educational Center Inc., is
incredibly honored to introduce the new mentors in the Elementary Department.

Badminton, Basketball, Chess – name it and Miss Ruth Danielle Dela Cruz can teach it! A woman
who is called by God to share her knowledge to the young minds especially in the field of music, arts,
and sports. Truly, we are grateful to have a creative teacher like her in the Elementary Department.
Teacher Ruth Danielle Dela Cruz is a 22-year old Grade 2 co-adviser who hails at Barangay Turac, San
Carlos City, Pangasinan. She was born on December 13, 1997. She is the daughter of Mr. Richard R. Dela
Cruz (also a former teacher in CEC) and Ptr. Melissa G. Dela Cruz.

Teacher Danielle finished her college degree in Binalatongan Community College in 2018
wherein she took up Bachelor of Elementary Education – Major in General Education. “I am glad to be
the Grade 2 co-adviser this year. As your teacher, I encourage you to do your best and be a good role
model to everyone,” Miss Danielle said. Her life verse is Matthew 6:33.

For another feature, we have Miss Myla D. Dela Cruz in the spotlight. Like every other teacher,
Miss Myla always give every indication that she sees each of her students as unique and fascinating
individuals who were destined to make her and most especially their parents proud.

She is “small but terrible” and one of the goofiest teachers on staff. Teacher Myla handles the
Grade 2 class as an adviser. She was born on August 2, 1997 and resides at Barangay Bogaoan, San
Carlos City, Pangasinan. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Manny Dela Cruz. Moreover, she teaches in the
primary students mostly.

She took her college degree in Pangasinan State University – San Carlos Campus in 2018. “First
of all, I want to say that I am so happy to be your teacher. I know that I am new and unfamiliar right
now but do not worry because we are going to have an awesome class,” Teacher Myla said. She also said
that one of the main reasons why she chose Clark is that she likes to mentor academically and
spiritually. Her life verse is Jeremiah 29:11.

Dedicated, patient, and flexible – these are just some of the character traits of our new
kindergarten 1 teacher, Miss Marielle A. Mercado. She absolutely takes great pleasure in seeing young
children get excited about learning something new!

Her pupils may test her patience regularly by being easily distracted or disruptive but she always
requires a great deal of patience to explain the way things work and ease their minds when they are
upset or frustrated. Teacher Marielle was born on January 8, 1997 and lives in Barangay Bolosan, San
Carlos City, Pangasinan. She is the daughter of Mr. Eleseo Mercado and Mrs. Maira Mercado.
She finished her college degree in San Carlos College and chose CEC to open doors for every
child. “This is my first year of teaching here at Clark but I will give my best to teach and nurture young
mind,” Miss Mercado said. Her life verse is Matthew 4:4

Next, meet Teacher Grace V. Oliveros, the new Grade 1 co-adviser who teaches mostly in the
primary level and teaches six subjects namely English, Science and Mathematics. She is often described
by her students as fresh for having a clear skin and blushy cheeks!

Like most teachers, Teacher Grace chose to provide quality education to kids. She does not only
helps answer questions, she also inspires her students to seek out the answers for themselves. Miss
Grace make sure that her students will flourish in an environment that reflects respect for one another,
and they will learn to treat each other that way as well.

“I am excited to teach you and guide you as we go along together. I promise to make our
learning fun and exciting,” Miss Oliveros said. She took her college degree in Binalatongan Community
College. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Oliveros. She resides at Barangay Salinap, San Carlos City,
Pangasinan and was born on October 2, 1995. Her life verse is Hebrews 11: 35.

The last but not the least, one of our new teachers has been molded through her long-time
experience as a teacher.

Mrs. Jenelyn N. Tomas started her teaching career since 2015. She has loved her profession for
five years! She truly explores lessons in real and meaningful ways and empowers learning in her
classroom. Teacher Jenelyn or Teacher Jen is also known as the “human calculator” and obviously loves
teaching mathematics-related activities.

She is the adviser of the Grade 3 class in the department. Surely, one of the traits her pupils
loves the most to Mrs. Tomas is her motherly-touched heart and approach. “I know this year will be an
another exciting year of learning,” Mrs. Tomas said. She is the daughter of Mr. Jose Tomas and Mrs.
Nilda Tomas. She lives in Barangay Alacan, Malasiqui, Pangasinan and finished her college degree in
Malasiqui Agno Valley College.

Furthermore, the school is proud to say that all the newly hired teachers in the Elementary
Department passed the Professional Licensure Examination for Teachers. To God be the glory!
