Sonoff Basic is designed to be an in-line switch for low(er) powered appliances like a

lamp or fan. When holding the Sonoff as shown, the left side is the mains input where
the wall plug connects to. On the input live (L) and neutral (N) is marked but for an EU
plug L and N line depends on how it is plugged in. So just take the two wires coming out
from the plug and connect to the two input terminals. Make sure that screw down lid
firmly holds the insulation of the mains wire (see insert A). If the Sonoff Basic is used as
an in-line switch for an extension lead (insert C) or for an appliance which has earthed
wire (green-yellow wire), make sure that the earth wire is not broken. In my case I just
routed through the earth wire inside the Sonoff Basic case (insert B). Keep in mind that
Sonoff Basic is rated for 10A, and extension lead could be rated for a higher current (e.g.
16A). In that case Sonoff Basic will be the weak link in this setup.

Most important note about Touch and T1, that it required both live and neutral wires to
work. In traditional wall switches only the live (usually black or brown) wire is switched
and the neutral (blue) wire is not present in the wall socket. Without the neutral wire
Sonoff Touch or T1 will not work!
Live and neutral wires from the switch box are connected to Lin and Nin terminals of the
Touch & T1. Output from the Touch is marked Lout and L1out, L2out, L3out on the T1
depending on if it is a 1, 2 or 3 gang switch. These are the switched live outputs that is
connected to the lamp.

12
This is how a traditional 2-way switch is connected. Both wall switch is an alternative
switch type which has an input terminal (In), and two output terminals (1 and 2). When
switching this wall switch is connects In with either 1 or 2. The live wire from the
switchbox is connected to the In terminal of one of the wall switch. 1 and 2 outputs of
the two wall switches are connected together as shown in green. Finally the In terminal
of the second switch is connected to the lamp.

13
This is how 2-way switching with two Sonoff Touch or T1 looks like. Neutral wire from
the switchbox is connected to Nin, and live (also from the switchbox) is connected to Lin
of both of the Sonoff switches. Lout of one of the Sonoff switch is connected to the
lamp. As shown in the diagram only one of the Sonoff device is actually connected to the
lamp. The other Sonoff (can be even more) is not actually switching anything. Of course
for these two devices to work as 2-way switches require the Scenes set up in the
eWeLink application as described in the video.
