Planning and Curriculum Goals  

Submit 4 learning experience plan summaries, each plan will support a different developmental domain
from WMELS. Include the following information in each learning experience plan summary:  
*For the remaining domain you will write and implement one full (long) activity plan.

Name and type of learning experience __Why is brushing our teeth so important? The type of learning
experience is dental health. ________________________________________ 
 
In 3-5 sentences, a description of the teacher’s role during the learning experience and what the
children will be doing.  
 The teacher will boil an egg at home to bring into the classroom for the experiment along with
an unopened toothbrush and tooth paste. Also bring dark soda for the experiment.
 During the learning experience the teacher will show the children how the egg looks clean and
white. Put the egg in the dark soda and let it sit in there for the whole day. The next day start
this activity by introducing why you should brush your teeth by reading a book about dental
health. Then bring the children to the egg and take it out of the soda. Discuss how the egg is no
longer clean and resembles how your teeth get plaque built up. Let the children take turns
brushing off the egg with the clean toothbrush and toothpaste.

This learning experience was chosen because it is important for children to know what can happen if you
don’t brush your teeth. This activity supports the child development specific to the developmental
domain of health. This activity supports the WMELS goal of l. A.EL. 3 Demonstrates a healthy lifestyle.
