Video Reflection: Observation of Learning Experience Plan
Teaching a learning experience is one thing. Seeing yourself teach a learning experience is another.
Watch the video recording of your learning experience plan. Reflect on your teaching practices as an
objective observer. Include observations in every section, including comments in both the strengths and
areas for improvement.
Did you…focus the children’s attention; inform the children of the purpose of the experience;
Activity Implementation
relate the learning experience to prior knowledge or future lessons; practice purposeful and
intentional implementation that is inclusive of all learners; make real-time adaptations to the
activity should children lose interest; etc.?

I think I did focus the children’s attention well by I did not really explain the purpose of the
having the puppet there as a visual reminder. The kids activity to the children, so they did not

about penguins in the beginning. The kids also seemed
like they were engaged and became more engaged as it
went on. After the video they also kept dancing and
singing.
Did you…foster positive, nurturing relationships that encourage individual engagement; provide

I did foster positive relationships by allowing the I think that I could have given the children
children to talk when they wanted to as well as ask some ideas at the end when they were
questions when they had them. At the end, I did provide struggling to think of their own penguin
time for kids to think about what dance they would like dance.
to do, and I gave them the option of coming back to
them so they could think more. We discussed penguins
before starting the activity to help refresh their
understanding of penguins. I also gave the children
good feedback when they showed me their dance.

constructively; arrange the environment for effective instruction; use time efficiently; etc.?
I believe that I did a very good job teaching the kids about this learning plan. Nothing went bad
and all of the kids sat nicely and listened when I was talking. I think the video did reflect how I
see myself as an educator because I have a relationship with the kids and it was accurately
represented in the video by the way they sat extremely nice and none of them tried t fight the
activity.
