This webinar provides an overview of tire testing methods,

how to interpret tire data, a brief summary of tire modeling,
and new developments in tire testing machinery. The seminar
reviews sample tire characterization curves and explains the
correlating vehicle performance, and also explains the push for
tire models by the OEM customer. New products designed to
further integrate tire testing into suspension and steering
design are also discussed.

Speaker Information
Dr. James Cuttino, Director of Tire Technology and Product Line, LINK Engineering Company in Dearborn,
Michigan, where he oversees innovation and product development related to tire technologies. Dr.
Cuttino received his BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 1985 and
1987 respectively, and then began his career in tires at the Michelin Americas Research and Development
Center in Greenville, South Carolina, USA.

He earned his Ph.D. in Precision Engineering and Metrology at North Carolina State University in 1994.
Over the next 14 years he taught Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama and The University
of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Cuttino left teaching in 2009 to start Camber Ridge, a first of its kind
tire testing facility designed to bring accuracy to tire testing, and subsequently sold the technology to LINK
Engineering in 2017. Dr. Cuttino’s current responsibilities include oversight of Link’s tire product line and
tire testing laboratory. He is Chair of the SAE Truck and Bus Tire Committee and has served on numerous
organizing committees for the SAE. Dr. Cuttino has received an SAE Best Paper Award at the 2013 SAE
Commercial Vehicle Conference. He is the author of nine patents.
