HANDBAG FINISHING
Main Piece Sew Sides to Main Piece.
First Side Cut lining and interfacing pieces following Main Piece
Cast on 40 sts. and Sides, using knitted pieces as templates, being
Rows 1-12: Knit. sure to add seam allowance to the lining. Fuse
Row 13: Kfb, knit to last st, kfb, k1 – 2 sts inc’d, 42 interfacing to the knitted pieces. Sew lining pieces
sts. together. Fold under top edge of lining. Attach
Rows 14-26: Knit. magnetic snap closure to lining, using interfacing to
Row 27: Kfb, knit to last st, kfb, k1 – 2 sts inc’d, 44 stabilize. Sew handles to knitted bag. Place lining into
sts. knitted bag, wrong sides together. Whipstitch top
Rows 28-40: Knit. edge of lining to top edge of knitted bag. Fold in Side
Row 41: Kfb, knit to last st, kfb, k1 – 2 sts inc’d, 46 pieces forming gussets on each side. Tack down with
sts. sewing thread and needle.
Rows 42-54: Knit.
Row 55: Kfb, knit to last st, kfb, k1 – 2 sts inc’d, 48
sts.
Row 56: Knit.
Place removable markers at each end of piece to
indicate end of First Side and beginning of Bottom.

Bottom
Knit 42 rows or until piece meas 6” from
placement of markers.
Place removable markers at each end of piece to
indicate end of Bottom and beginning of Second
Side.

Second Side
Row 1: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 – 2 sts
dec’d, 46 sts rem.
Rows 2-14: Knit.
Row 15: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 – 2 sts
dec’d, 44 sts rem.
Rows 16-28: Knit.
Row 29: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 – 2 sts
dec’d, 42 sts rem.
Rows 30-42: Knit.
Row 43: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, ssk, k1 – 2 sts
