Design Mix
•  These are the most important features of the product that
a designer will consider before making them:

•  FUNCTION
•  COST
•  AESTHETIC
FUNCTION
•  A product must be fit for purpose.
•  A product must be reliable
•  It must be durable
•  User friendly (Ergonomically designed)
•  Easy and cheap maintenance
Aesthetic
•  Product and services should stimulate people’s senses in
addition to performing a function. This is known as
aesthetic appeal.
•  Designer must look it the outer look of the product so that
it stands out among the rest
•  It must give the user a positive personality
•  A successful aesthetics value addition will give a business
chance to charge premium.
Economic Manufacture/ Cost
•  The design must include features which is easy to
manufacture.
•  Producing goods at a cheap rate will help to cut down
cost.
•  It will help the business to make profit.
Design Mix and Social Trend
•  Design for waste minimization
•  Design for re use
•  Design for recycle
•  Ethical Sourcing
Sampling
•  Sample is the part of population who will participate in the
actual research.
•  Type of Sample
•  Random Sampling (Lottery)
•  Quota sampling involves the target population being segmented
into a number of groups that share specific characteristics like age
gender etc.
•  Stratified Random involves performing a lottery as well but it will
include picking sample from a defined group like English Medium
students, Doctor, Professionals, etc.
Factors Affecting Sample Size
•  Remember the bigger the sample the more accurate is
the research
•  The amount of money that a business is willing to spend
is one factor that will affect the sample size
•  The objective and methodology used by the business.
