With this document we certify that Participant’s first and last name took part in the joint syllabus (IO2) of the EU-
MADE4LL (European Multimodal and Digital Education for Language Learning).

Topics: ICT - new technologies - digital competences; Recognition, transparency, certification; Teaching and
learning of foreign languages.

The exchange project was developed and implemented in cooperation with the following partners:

1) University of Messina (IT), 2) University of Leeds (UK), 3) University of Firenze (IT), 4) Aarhus Universitet
(DK), 5) University of Rome Tor Vergata (IT); 6) Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universitaet Hannover (DE), 7)
Rocca Creative Thinking Limited (UK).

The aim and the specific objectives of the project were:

- students’ increased confidence and competence in international communication by means of digital


technologies;
- students’ experience of international teaching practices;
- students’ enhanced motivation for language learning and digital literacy.

Main activities:

(1) Use of the EU-MADE4LL online environment for e-learning and for storing and sharing the learning materials
and students’ anonymised assignments;

(2) Formal participation in a joint syllabus including:

(a) a common set of core notions, readings and activities,

(b) a series of workshops, each focused on a specific digital text type and carried out through teachers’
mobility among the participant organizations,

(c) assignments that enable the assessment and peer-assessment of students’ learning outcomes,

(d) evaluation of the course effectiveness;

(3) Students’ assignments:

(a) production of one digital text type (out of five, namely “about us” webpage, blog, corporate video,
fanvid, or video-mediated interaction, such as job interviews);

(b) the analysis of their design choices applying the notions of multimodal digital literacy;

(c) students’ peer-assessment.

The main achievements of the projects were the following:

(1) increased confidence in reading and interpreting a range of different digital texts/genres;

(2) enhanced skills for the planning and design of digital texts for an intended audience;

(3) developed language skills by using English as a Lingua Franca in international contexts;

(4) increased socio-semiotic and intercultural awareness in digital communication;

(5) improved awareness in how to safely manage social identity online (e.g. ethic and safe digital behaviour).

The joint syllabus was funded by:

1) Attendance of the general course in Corporate Discourse Analysis (academic year 2017-2018, 2nd term);

3) design and production of the Wedding planners digital text;

4) planning and development of a c. 2000-word written analysis of the student’s semiotic choices in English;

5) peer-assessment on a pre-agreed set of criteria on another participant from a different cohort of students.

Communication

All communication activities have been carried out in English for international and intercultural contexts.

Digital competence

Using Office suite tools to record and manage electronic documents; using the EU-MADE4LL platform for
downloading/uploading/submitting digital materials; customising templates (e.g. Wordpress); video recording (e.g.
Skype) and basic manual video annotation; basic video-editing (e.g. Final Cut pro X).

Learning to Learn

Team building and cooperation; giving constructive feedback on a common grid of pre-agreed assessment criteria.

Cultural awareness and expression

Cultural sensitivity and constructive feedback for different cultures using English as a Lingua Franca; responsibly
managing one’s own and other participants’ social and digital identities.
