This meeting is being held in conformity to the Open Public Meetings Act N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq.
Proper public notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on April 24, 2020.
If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is in violation of
the Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that they make a statement
at this time.
The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on video and
will be broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77 and Fios Channel 46. The full
meeting recording will also be made available on BoardDocs, which can be accessed through the
district homepage.
The Hoboken Board of Education is committed to preserving the decorum of the public process and is
mindful that we live in the electronic age of computers, cell phones and other electronic
communications devices. Nevertheless, we respectfully request that all meeting participants kindly

Recommended Action RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Education approves a Consent Agenda.
Our adopted rules of Parliamentary Procedure, Robert's Rules, provide for consent agenda listing several
items for approval of the Board by a single motion. Most of the items listed under the consent agenda have
gone through Board subcommittee review and recommendation. Documentation concerning these items
has been provided to all Board members and the public in advance to assure an extensive and thorough
review. Items may be removed from the consent agenda at the request of any board member.

Recommended Action RESOLVED, that the Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent,
approve the appointments of the following personnel in the Hoboken School District for
the 2020-2021 school year on the appropriate bargaining unit salary, pending the full
satisfaction of requisite New Jersey Department of Education and District employment
criteria.

Subject 5.03 Approval of Superintendent's Contract
Recommended Action WHEREAS, the Board has determined to amend the term of its current contract with
Superintendent of Schools Christine Johnson; and
WHEREAS, the Board gave notice of its intention to amend the Superintendent’s
contract as required by N.J.S.A. 18A: 11-11; and
WHEREAS, the Hudson County Executive Superintendent of Schools has approved the
amended contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:7-8, 18A:17-15 and

N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-3.1 et. seq., the Board hereby rescinds the existing contract of
employment for Dr. Johnson, which runs from August 23, 2017 through June 30, 2022,
and approves a new employment contract with Dr, Johnson commencing on July 1,
2020, and continuing through 12:01 A.M. on July 1, 2025, with the following salaries
over the term of the contract: During the 2020-2021 school year, $185,076.00; during
the 2021-2022 school year, $188,678.00; during the 2022-2023 school year,
$192,451.00; during the 2023-2024 school year, $196,300.00, and during the 2024-
2025 school year, $200,226.00, as set forth in the contract of employment attached
hereto.

that portion of the meeting at which it discusses matters pertaining to personnel, negotiations, and/or
litigation; now
