A Detailed Lesson Plan


English 09

Subject: Anglo- American Literature Date: March 3, 2020


Grade: 09-Emerald Time: 7:15- 8:15

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature


and other text types serve as means of preserving unchanging values in a changing world; also
how to use the features of a full-length play, tense consistency, modals, active and passive
constructions plus direct and indirect speech to enable him/her competently performs in a full-
length play.

Performance Standard: The learner competently performs in a full- length play through
applying effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following
criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery and Dramatic Conventions.

Learning Competency: EN9G-IVf-1: Change direct to indirect speech and vice versa.
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students must have:
1. Identified the important key words when learning direct and indirect speech,
2. Labelled the parts of the sentences with correct key words using shapes and lines; and
3. Realized the importance of the key words in order to covert speeches properly.

This is a quick question drill. I will ask a student


a question. After they answer, I will ask another
student what was said. For example:

T: Edison, how did you get to class today?


S1: I came by car.
T: Sorry, I didn’t get that. Wendell, what did
Edison say?
S2: He said he had come by car.
T: Thanks.

reporting speech. “Said” is the reporting verb for
both examples.

Reported Speech: The part of the sentence
that is quoted or paraphrased. In writing, this will
usually be dialogue. “You should do your
homework before you come to class” is the
reported speech for the direct speech example,
and “I should do my homework before I come to
class” is the reported speech for the indirect
speech example.

this verb may change to fit the grammatical
structure of the sentence. “Do” is the reported
