Why Women Are Easily to Cry

Why women are easier to cry then men? Probably that question is not strange in society. Tears
and woman have a strong correlation. When woman cries, it means they have an unspoken feeling which
cannot be expressed in a right way. According to babble.com, women emotion is completely connected to
their tear ducts. Psychologically, tears can manipulate their feelings. Tears may indicate frustration, fear,
anxiety, vulnerability, madness, annoyance, and even happiness. Some people argue that crying seems as
a sign of weakness for woman, but this may be wrong. There are several scientific reasons behind why
women are easier to cry.

One of the reason why women are easier to cry than men is from their body anatomy.
Biologically women tear ducts more superficial than men. It is proven by the research of Geoffrey
GoodFellow, one of the professor in Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He used the method that
measure the school between women and men. Not only Geoffrey GoodFellow, William Frey H gives the
reason about this case. William, as biochemist said that testosterone in men’s body make them scarce to
issue the tears. He does a research between the emotional tears and the irritated tears. He conducts a
statement by his research that the emotional tears contents prolactin. Prolactin in adult woman’s body are
60% above average of men. When women and men are in the same age before adult or when they are
children, both of them have same prolactin contents that make the level of crying almost same. In
conclusion, women have the anatomy that makes them easily to cry than the anatomy of men.

According to psychological studies which is reported by Ivan Nyklicek, Lydia Temoshok and Ad
Vingerhoets, women cry two to five times a month, or three to five times more often than men. In case,
men and women have crying discrepancy. This crying discrepancy is based on factors like gender and
social context. For example, when women break up in their relationship or have a fight with their partner
in works, they tend to offer more empathic responses to cry than men. On the contrary, when men cries it
because of those problems, it gives the negative responses of society that they are weak, depressed and
too sensitive. It conducts disgraceful things for men’s psychologies. However, men attempt to hold their
tears not to come out. This case brings up the assumption of the society’s perspective that women are
easier to cry then men.

In conclusion, this phenomenon has become stereotype in our society, and it is strongly supported
by those researches. It clearly shows then that crying is normal for everyone, no matter what gender they
are, because everyone has various feelings to be expressed. Then, crying is one of the way to release their
feelings and avoid repression, and mostly women do it. Finally, people cannot just give an unfair
statement or consideration about women’s being easily cry.
