1. Basic institutional contact The target institution’s name is Centro de


information Estudio de Idiomas Mazatlán (CEIM) which
offers a Saturday English programme called
PISA. It is specifically oriented for adolescents
and young adults.

2. Student services information The students have several benefits during
their learning process. PISA has an asesorías
programme (tutorships) whose purpose is to
help weak students.
Also, learners have access to CALE which is a
technological centre that supports students
learning by offering different inputs like
videos, audios, films, writing, amongst others.
3. Tuition/fees and other student This programme has a half-yearly fee which
charges consists of $1 500 MXN. The official webpage
states, however, that this can change.
4. Control or affiliation The students or the person in charge must pay
the corresponding fee before a date given by
control escolar, which is the apartment in
charge of the administrative matters. Learners
must have a minimum grade of 8.
5. Type of calendar system The learners attend classes every Saturday
(except for holidays or any other issues that
might arise) during six months. The first cycle
starts on 8 of February and ends on 9 of
August. The second one begins on 22 of
August and finishes on 22 of December.
6. Levels of awards and types of Along with PISA, CEIM has another Saturday
programs offered programme called PISI, which is oriented to
very young learners. CEIM offers an English
programme on weekdays as well.
Furthermore, this institution also possess more
foreign languages like German and Italian.

According to your research context and the information you
gathered, do you think that the selected institution(s) fit the
purpose of your research?
Centro de Estudio de Idiomas holds a great variety of students from
different context, but they all have something in common: most of their
English input has been received from local public schools; however, there
are some exceptions like people who has gone to foreign countries and
show more expertise in the language as well as confidence;
notwithstanding this, the number of these students is low. Thus, these
students have similar experiences with the language and, roughly
speaking, same experiences which make them an ideal place to carry out
this research.
