The student joined an MBA program in August 2019 that included an academic assistantship course. They were assigned a mentor, Professor Sumedha Chauhan, and given three tasks over the semester related to e-commerce, marketing techniques, and data analytics. The student struggled with time management as a procrastinator but learned to focus outside their hostel room. They discovered hidden strengths like their analytical skills and enjoyment of reading. The experience helped them become harder working and more competent under the guidance of Professor Chauhan.

I joined MBA in August 2019 and as part of the curriculum, we
were introduced to a new way of learning i.e. Academic Assistantship. In this course there is inducive learning. In this unique course I was first assigned a mentor by the Executive Office of the O.P Jindal Global University and so, I was assigned to professor SUMEDHA CHAUHAN. The main objective of this paper is to conduct the self- assessment to evaluate the role of the individual and therefore the effectiveness of the work being assigned. Moreover, it is crucial to appraise the correlation between the roles and duties assigned to each member and success. The basis of this reflective essay is the theoretical framework, experiences from the business world, aligned with the personal experience, which would help me to identify and compare the difficulties that have arisen and the correct way of overcoming those. To achieve the aim of this paper, it is essential to determine the essence of how to manage our time. On 09th September 2019, Under the guidance of professor SUMEDHA CHAUHAN, I was assigned the very first task, i.e., How e-commerce is different from traditional commerce and How mobile apps are different from mobile websites? Which one is better? On 30th September 2019, I was assigned the second task, i.e., Different marketing techniques for e- commerce? (Choose a company). On 23rd October 2019, I was assigned the last task, i.e., What is data analytics and why it is important? Different types of data analytics with examples… When it comes to reflection on performance, I think I am still on my way to the top and actually get best in my soft skills. I would like to say that the biggest hurdle in academic assistantship, for me was time management. I am a procrastinator and always have been, so completing assignments on time was and still is a challenge for me. I have not come to a full solution to this problem yet, but I did make changes in my life as to how I can manage time management. I found that it was easier for me to focus on homework if I was outside my hostel room, because when in my hostel, I would usually mess around on the internet or take naps. I don’t think realistically I will get over procrastination anytime soon, but I can manage it. I used to despise hard work, I used to think that things can be done with less hard work but after doing all these tasks I have now become very hardworking and no task is difficult task for me. My experience during performing this assignment was incredible. It provided me a platform to recognise and utilise my skills of leadership, Time management and communication skill in a more practical scenario. With hurdles came hidden strengths I discovered about myself. I used my analysing skills in various junctures of my tasks, learned how to manage my time in the right manner and got to knew that I like reading which earlier I used to run away from because the task assigned needed a lot of reading. The highlights of the course for me would probably be the creative portion of the entire course. I really appreciate the efforts of professor Sumedha Chauhan in guiding me, supporting me and pushing me forward to work in this assistantship programme. As I go forward with more tasks coming my way, I would do them with a more competent attitude and with a zeal of learning more things under the guidance of professor Sumedha Chauhan
