thermocouple until it bottoms out on the stop collar
internal to the radiation shield.

6. Tighten the ferrule nut finger tight. While keeping


the TC from turning, tighten the ferrule nut using
the stop collar to determine complete tightening.

Note: The cable connection nuts are different thread


sizes to assure proper connection of the Alumel and
Chromel leads.

7. Tighten the cable connection nuts on the


thermocouple finger tight. Maximum torque of 14
INCH-Pounds ( 1 Ft-Lb ) (Smaller connection) and
25 INCH-Pounds (Larger connection). Over
tightening can break the ceramic insulator. The
following tools should be used 361A2994P001 with
head P002, and wrench P007 with head P003 for
each connection nut. (Prevents cracking of the
ceramic insulator).

8. Ensure the Exhaust Diffuser insulation does not


cover the head of the thermocouple, and that the
insulation provides a radiation barrier between the
exhaust diffuser and the thermocouple
connections. The temperatures have been
measured at 700 °F at this point, which is the
maximum limit for the thermocouple. (Prevents
over heating the cable leads, which are only rated
for 500 °F).
