Ethics and Academic Integrity


(Part I)
Questions to be solved:

1. Make a brief synthesis (600 words maximum) of the relevant issues of ethics and morality in antiquity,
the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

2. Describe succinctly the major stages of modern ethics.

3. Describe some subdomains / divisions of ethics and integrity.

4. List basic legal ethical regulations in Romanian universities.

5. Summarize the fundamental principles of academic ethics and integrity.

6. Show what moral values are covered by the Code of Ethics and Professional Deontology of the "Gheorghe
Asachi" Technical University of Iasi, as well as ethical principles in scientific research.

7. Discuss the frequent forms of deviations from ethics and academic integrity.

8. Describe the main documents related to ethics of scientific research in the European community.

9. Explain what good research practice refers to.

10. Show what are the functions of communication through scientific papers and the benefits of
communicating and publishing (dissemination) the results of scientific research.

11. List some forms of research results valorization through communication and / or publication.

12. Present some characteristic elements of a good (good) paper.

13. Explain the reasons for which people uses to write and publish research papers (ideally and in reality).

14. Show some side effects of the pressure to publish and the negative impact generated in relation to
ethics, integrity and deontology of research.

15. Draw up a brief scientific synthesis of 700-800 words (in Romanian or English), in which to quote at least
10 sources of information, choosing one of the two citation methods discussed during the course
development. Also write a list of the corresponding references (which will be considered apa
