As further foundation for hotel and restaurant courses in the University, the
University of San Agustin opens its new buiilding during the blessing of the
Dr. Henry O. Chusuey International Center, March 7 at Hotel Sta. Monica,
University of San Agustin.
The event was graced by the benefactor of the new international center, Dr.
Henry O. Chusuey, who was a notable alumnus of the University and now an
internationally-accalimed hotelier, together with his family and the
Augustianian community.
Chusuey also stressed that the establishment of the international center could
be the avenue for Augustinian graduates to excel in the tourism and
hospitality industry in an international scale for they have been nurtured with
the best training, professionalism, competence and character of virtue and
science.
“I hope that this building will be used optimally for this intented noble
purpose. I trust the responsible stewardship of the University administators to
ensure that this facility will be taken care of so that it would beneift not only
this generation, but maybe more generations in the future,” he added.
Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine, Fr. Alejandro Moral Anton, OSA,
led the blessing rite along with the members of University Board of Trustees,
and Augustinian friars from different communities in the country.
“In behalf of the Augustinian academic community, I would like to thank Dr.
Chusuey and his family for the generous donation. I assure you that this will
not be put to waste for it will serve as a laboratory for the hospitality and
tourism management students and allied courses. I also would like to
acknowledge particluarly those who have largely contributed to the
establishment of this newest facility,”said University President, Fr. Frederick
Comendador.
The said building shall operate in the future under the name Hotel Sta.
Monica, which was named after the mother of Saint Augustine of Hippo.
