Do you feel daunted by your busy schedule? Reduce the pressure of a heavy workload
with a planned approach. Bring your timetable and assignment due dates to develop a
personalised plan to use limited time effectively.

Practical Note Taking (50 minutes)


The notes you take from lectures, tutorials and textbooks are one of the most
important types of writing you will do while you are at university. Learn some tips to
produce effective notes to assist learning.

Critical Thinking (6 hours)


If you wonder what your lecturers mean when they ask you to critically analyse,
discuss or assess something, then come along to this workshop series. In three two
hour sessions you will develop your understanding of critical analysis. We will look at
what it means to be a critical thinker, and how to critically analyse a text.

Effective Reading (50 minutes)


Learn to cope effectively with the quantity of reading you are required to do for your
studies. Developing more skills to read and understand the text will help you make the
most of valuable study time.

These two hour sessions are useful for getting started with your assignments. They will
include an overview of the essay writing process including analysis, thinking,
planning, and essay structure.

Come and learn strategies to understand what is being asked in an essay question so
you can plan and make sure your research and essay writing time is efficient. This
