Gandhism vs Ambedkarism

Establishing Ambedkar and gandhi on the basis of different ideology is not new. But on 2 nd
October 2018 on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi this debate came in the
domain of intellectuals .However, there is one more line of thinking which does not believe
Gandhi and ambedkar to be of opposite ideology . But they try to figure out element of common
thinking between them but this does not mean that there was no difference at all between them.
But the truth is that on different matter they have different opinion.For example in this article
Gandhi was searching solution for caste related question in hindu religion where as Ambedkar
believed that the caste system was result of hindu religion itself .Gandhi India was based on
rural empowerment on another hand Ambedkar’s India was based on urban empowerment .
Ambedkar believed in constitutionalism whereas Gandhi did not . Gandhi believed that the
congress was the representative of the oppressed whereas Ambedkar believed it was the
representative of the upper class society .Whereas Gandhi criticized western culture on
otherside ambedkar was inclined towards it . Ambedkar was working for the betterment of
oppressed whereas Gandhi was working for betterment of country .Apart from these differences
there are many other things on which they differed but this article also focuses on the matters on
which they both concurred.
