Job description

One of the most important outputs of job analysis is the job description. Job description is a
basic component of the organizational communication system and procedure for determining
the duties and skills requirements of a job. The job description comes in a wide variety of forms,
but whatever the form, it attempts to provide what its title states-statements of facts that
describe the job.

Component of job description


Job description is one of the few tolls that help the manager or employer in every step of
recruitment process. There is some component of job description like job identification, job
summary, relationship, responsibilities and duties, standard work performance, working
conditions.

Job identification
The identification section of the job description takes the following form.Job title, date, written
by, job status, job code, plant/division and department/section, pay range. Job identification is
a part of job description that helps to identify and entitled the job.

Job summary
The job summary is normally a word picture of the job that delineates its general
characteristicslisting only major functions or activities. This section of job description provides
enoughinformation to identifying and differentiate the major function and activities of the job
from those of others. It is especially valuable to the individuals who wants a quick overview of
the job. The summary is often used in job matching when participating in a pay survey.

Responsibilities and Duties


Responsibility and duty statements normally comes from the job analysis process.
Responsibilities identify the primary reason for the existence of the job. These are the major or
broad categories of work activities that in total, define the scope of the work assignment. The
duties explain in more detail what occurs in the performance of a responsibility. Typically,
duties describe not only what is done, but why and how it is done. Thus, they provide more
individuality and uniqueness to the job description.
Working Condition
Working condition usually gives us information about the environment in which a job holder must work.
These include heat, cold, dust, noise level, moisture, fume etc. Nature of risk their possibility of
occurrence
