Add-On scenery

For Laminar Research

X-Plane 10 & 11
Version 1
Welcome to London Luton Airport . The airport was opened on 16 July 1938 and during world war two
the airport became a Fighter Squadron base, and also manufactured aircraft by the Percival Aircraft
Company. Commercial and civilian flying returned after the war and during the 1950's and 1960's Luton
airport was one of the first airports to offer inclusive tour holiday flights.

A new terminal was opened in 1985 by HRH The Prince of Wales and various upgrades were made during
the 1990's these included a new control tower, refurbishment of the passenger terminal, a new cargo
centre, access roads and enlarged car parking facilities.

Luton Airport had become the UK's fastest growing airport and a new phase of expansion was planed to
accommodate the ever increasing passenger numbers. By Autumn 1999, a new state of the art £40 million
terminal, baggage and flight information system was completed and a new road access tunnel was
constructed underneath the taxiway.

Luton airport is a major hub for budget airlines, like EasyJet, Ryanair, Flybe. plus a number of others
operators. It is also popular as a 'Bizjet' airport with 3 main operators. Today London Luton Airport is one
of the UK's largest airports and carried 9.5 million passengers in 2011.

1
Installation
The installation is fully automatic; it will search the Windows registry for the location of your X-Plane
Folder and use this as the default initial location. You can install Luton Xtreme to any location but
please remember where you placed it for future updates. The product does not include any large
airliner AI, as this may conflict with the user's AI addons

Uninstall
Simply delete the Luton Xtreme scenery out of the Custom Scenery folder located in your X-Plane
directory.

The Airfield
The easiest way to find the airfield is to use the Go to Airport system within FS. Start FS (use your
default flight if needed); make sure you are using the FS default database (not the add-on scenery
database) and enter ”Luton”, or “eggw” (no parenthesis)

2
Frame Rates
This scenery is very complex, but it is programmed in an efficient way. Compared to other products
this scenery is very good on frame rates. But please don’t set your X-Plane at maximum settings and
expect to get a smooth ride. Most of the frame rate problems have nothing to do with the add-on
scenery. AI aircraft, water effects, autogen and default X-Plane airport vehicles will slow your PC the
most. I can get Luton to display at 200fps (X-Plane 10, no autogen, no AI) or 10FPS (X-Plane 11,
MAX AI ADDONS, MAX Autogen) It is all down to settings.

Known X-Plane Issues

Some Taxiway lights may not line up with the taxi lines – I have contacted Laminar Research but had
no response.
