Service Note F77-F55-F33 - Satellite Repositioning of I4 Rev C
Service Note F77-F55-F33 - Satellite Repositioning of I4 Rev C
Subject:
The Inmarsat I4 satellites used by FleetBroadband are going to change position
in order to provide global coverage. This will cause a change for the SAILOR
Fleet77, SAILOR Fleet55 and SAILOR Fleet33 services, since they will be
returned to the Inmarsat I3 satellite in AOR-W.
This return of satellite services will cause the end of global coverage of all
services in AOR-W for the SAILOR Fleet77, SAILOR Fleet55 and SAILOR
Fleet33, the systems that only can operate in Spot Beam for all services except
Mini-M Voice (Global Beam).
Priority:
Identification:
For the moment AOR-W is providing Global Coverage for all services for the
Sailor Fleet77, SAILOR Fleet55 and SAILOR Fleet33, while for the three other
Ocean Regions (IOR, AOR-E and POR) only provides Spot Beam coverage for
all services, except Mini-M Voice which for the SAILOR Fleet55 and SAILOR
Fleet33 systems are Globally covered. SAILOR Fleet77 is a Global serviced
system except the 128K ISDN, which is only Spot Beam covered.
Above Coverage map “Coverage map 1” shows the current situation where
AOR-W is having Global Coverage in AORW (blue = Spot Beams; yellow =
Enhanced Spot Beams of the I4 satellite).
From January 7th 2009 the reposition of the I4F2 will commence, and at the
same time Inmarsat services for the SAILOR Fleet 77, SAILOR Fleet 55 and
SAILOR Fleet33 will be returned to the Inmarsat I3 satellites.
Looking at the coverage map above “Coverage map 2”, it can be found that
Inmarsat has activated two new Spot Beams in the AOR-W to increase the
coverage in the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean and south-eastern part of
the Pacific Ocean to compensate the “loss” of Global Coverage from the AOR-W
satellite.
