Pedagogy

Activity The objective of this lesson is to teach students what an

author’s purpose for writing is. In this activity I will have the
Smart Exchange lesson prepared before the students arrive.
When the students arrive, I will first have them come up to the
board and brainstorm what they think the reasoning is behind
author’s writing is. After doing that for 5-10 minutes I will
begin the lesson using the Smart slides and explain reasons
author’s write. During this time students can ask questions
about the topic. Following that I will then have students
volunteer to read each paragraph and call on other students to
try and guess the author’s purpose of each paragraph. Each
volunteer will drag their answer they choose onto the line on
the slide. The student who answers the question will read the
next slide to improve their reading comprehension. After this
we will end with a slide refreshing the student’s memories on
why author’s compose writings. To wrap up I will have each
student write a short paragraph about anything they wish,
 they will then exchange them with a peer near them and the
gyTechnolo peer must try and figure out the purpose of the writing.
