Gianna did not know the backgrounds and performance levels of the students prior to teaching her social studies unit. Knowledge of students’ backgrounds and performance is used to assist in developing activities and assessments To be honest, I did not know too much about student backgrounds and performance prior to teaching my unit. In my lesson, I attempted to follow what their teacher did in terms of note taking procedure. Nevertheless, I did not know who struggled with writing or reading and it showed in my lesson plan that I did not plan any accomodation. From here on out, I will ask the teacher to share how many students are on IEP and EIP and what planned accommodations are put in place to assist them. I would then work to develop well rounded activities that all students would reasonably be able to succeed in.
