Boys & Girls Club Announces ‘Teen Club’ After School Program for Students in
Bloomington-Normal

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal will start their new
Teen Club for any junior high to high school students in the Bloomington-Normal area. The
Teen Club will meet Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30-8 p.m. They also will meet
for Teen Night on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and Fridays at 10 p.m. This program allows students to
have a productive environment to go to after school to socialize, study and receive free tutoring,
if needed. Teen Club will meet at 1615 Illinois St. Bloomington, IL 61761.

“Our main goal with this program is to create a safe and productive environment for young
students to grow after school,” said Elizabeth Hammersely, founder of Boys & Girls Club of
America. “Some students have rough home conditions or just need a little extra help after school,
and I am confident that students will find their place through this program.”

The Teen Club will allow teens to form a community among other peers their age and build
relationships. Some teens struggle with rough home conditions and offering a safe environment
for after school activities are beneficial for the community because it offers a sense of unity.
