C
o Grade Level 9th grade
n
t Learning Objective TI.4 The student will apply the creative process in
e storytelling, playwriting, and acting by:
n 1. creating and writing a monologue and/or scene.
t 2. analyzing the physical, emotional, and social
dimensions of characters.
3. employing voice, body, and imagination in role playing.
4. presenting a memorized monologue and/or scene from
a published work.

(The students will create 2 original characters focusing on

objective #2)
Online Activity In this activity the students will have to create characters
P from their imagination. Using online tools I present, to
e show what their characters will look like. They would have
d to use analyzing techniques to bring the feel of realism to
a the characters they develop. This activity will take 4 days to
g complete, 2 days for collecting data, 1 day to write a report
o and 1 day scheduled discussion.

Before I begin the activity with the students, they will have
a refresher course from our character analysis lesson.
Taught to them earlier this year, this will reactivate their
stored knowledge and get them ready for the main creative
lesson in character development “Apply the creative
process”. They will watch the link below, to get an idea of
what I am looking for when they need to develop their
report.

1. The students will log-in to their google classroom
accounts, find my name and class. This information was
given to them at the beginning of the school year.

2. As the Teacher I will place a digital permission slip for the
student and parent/guardian to sign. Giving them
permission to access the realistic simulator. The Sims
Freeplay, which is rated E for everyone. Mostly geared
toward pre-teen to teens. If permission is not granted for
some reason, that student will have to complete an
alternative simulation in close relation to what I have
chosen.

3. The students with permission access will begin creating

their original characters. Logging the names, ages,
personality traits and occupation if any. Over the course of
two days, the students will analyze the physical,
emotional, and social dimensions of their characters.

4. As the Teacher I will not personally be able to see each

student's sim character interactions, so the students will
create a two page report in a google document. They will
also need to add a screen shot, or email attachment of their
characters. This information will need to be uploaded to
their google classroom.

5. The students will look on google classroom to find the

“zoom” meeting time and day. They will also find the access
code and password up there. When we all are together on
“Zoom” we will discuss our experiences as a class.
Ofcourse, I will also have a created sim to discuss my
character’s experiences. I will then place the students in
break out groups of 4 students each. They will have to
discuss questions I will have up on my screen share, during
our zoom meeting. Then we will reconvene as a class to
reflect on the questions presented, before break out
groups.

Screen Share Questions:

1.How did your character’s emotions change over time?
2.What caused their emotions to change? ex.sleepy.
3.How did your character react to social interactions?
4.If you could change one thing about your characters,
what would it be?
