N479 Professional Activity Evaluation Form

Your Name: Emily Head Date of Activity: 2/4/2020 Faculty name: Darlene

Describe the community service/professional activity/s you attended or participated with (be

specific about the purpose and your role):

I attended an ACLS class with some of the other nursing students in my cohort. We learned

about the appropriate ways to respond to cardiac emergencies in advanced ways including

correct medications.

Where was this held and what was was program/activity length?

This was held at Eclipse CPR Training on February 4, 2020. The activity was 8 hours.

Discuss the value of this experience to you (be specific).

This experience was valuable to me especially because I am interested in emergency medicine

and knowing the correct way to treat patients in emergent situations. I also found this class

valuable because it provided a refresher on heart rhythms which I felt a little rusty on. Learning

which rhythms require specific drugs also allowed for the content to come together.

How would you continue to use this experience throughout your nursing career?
I will use this experience and certification not just for my resume for applying for jobs but also

the knowledge if I ever have to assist in responding to a resuscitation requiring advanced life

support.

Would you recommend this specific communnity/professional experience in the future; why or

why not? (Describe)

I would absolutely recommend this professional experience given that it has the ability to

translate into direct patient care. The knowledge on rhythms, mechanisms of drugs, and the

correct way to use machines was extremely beneficial. Separately, the teacher of the course was

extremely interesting and engaging. I have been through CPR courses many times which is set

up similarly and they generally are pretty bland however this class was far from bland.

Brochure or proof of attendance obtained if applicable? Yes (attached on D2L)
