ROLE: DENNIS - SIDES

SCENE 1

INT. PARTY HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Caroline’s at a party packed with unruly COLLEGE-AGE KIDS.

MUSIC is blasting, booze is flowing. Jenna joins Caroline.
Beer in a red cup in hand, Jenna is more at home in this
crowd than Caroline.

A Grungy Guy approaches Jenna, who happily allows herself to

be pulled into dancing with him. DENNIS, a stocky former
high school jock, notices Caroline dancing alone, tries to
grind up on her. She moves away; Dennis pursues.

DENNIS
Hey, what’s up? You don’t like me
or something?

CAROLINE
No, it’s not that. I’m just tired
of dancing. I’m gonna get a drink.

As she hurries off, Caroline begins to admit to herself that

she might be in over her head with this crowd.

END OF SCENE

SCENE 2

INT. PARTY HOUSE - NIGHT

Caroline searches the crowd for Jenna, but can’t find her.

CAROLINE
Jenna? Jenna?

Without warning, Dennis appears, presses up against her.

He’s clearly been drinking.

DENNIS
Hey, girl. How about that dance?

CAROLINE
No, I can’t right now.

She backs away from him, but he follows.

 2.

DENNIS
Come on, I know you got the moves.

CAROLINE
Maybe later, okay?
(getting nervous)
Jenna! Jenna!

DENNIS
If you’re looking for your friend,
she took off with that dude.

CAROLINE
What?

DENNIS
Yeah.

CAROLINE
She wouldn’t leave without telling
me.

Caroline keeps looking for Jenna. Dennis follows her.

CAROLINE (CONT’D)
Jenna!

DENNIS
I’m telling you, she’s gone.

CAROLINE
Excuse me, I have to get home.

Getting aggressive, Dennis boxes Caroline in against a wall.

DENNIS
You need a ride, I can give you a
ride. Of course, you got to earn
it.

He gropes Caroline.

CAROLINE
Leave me alone.

Caroline manages to elude him, flees towards a room at the

end of the hall, enters, closes door; Dennis goes after her.
 3.

CONTINUOUS-

INT. HALL HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Maggie sits staring at her phone on the table top. When it

RINGS, she pounces.

MAGGIE
Caroline --

CAROLINE
Maggie, I’m in trouble!

INTERCUT:

INT. PARTY HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Caroline’s locked herself in a bedroom. She’s startled by

the sound of Dennis POUNDING on the other side of the door.

DENNIS (O.S.)
Let me in! I just want to talk to
you!

MAGGIE
Caroline, what’s going on?

CAROLINE
(on the verge of tears)
I need you to come get me! Please!

Caroline throws a nervous look at the door.

SCENE 3

EXT. PARTY HOUSE - NIGHT - LATER

Maggie cuts through the Young Crowd, searching, finds Dennis

pounding on the door.

DENNIS
Come on! Let me in.

Following her intuition, Maggie approaches.

MAGGIE
(to Dennis)
Excuse me.
 4.

He grudgingly steps aside. Maggie shouts through the door.

MAGGIE (CONT’D)
Caroline?!

CAROLINE (O.S.)
(through door)
Maggie?!

MAGGIE
It’s okay. You can come out now.
(to Dennis)
Take a walk.

Dennis doesn’t move as the door opens, and Caroline appears.

MAGGIE (CONT’D)
Let’s go.

DENNIS
(to Caroline)
Hey, wait a minute.

MAGGIE
(to Caroline)
C’mon.

Dennis puts a belligerent hand on Maggie’s shoulder.

DENNIS
I said wait a minute.

Maggie’s Army training kicks in. She whirls, puts Dennis in

an arm bar, shoves him into the wall face first, holds him
there.

MAGGIE
We were just leaving. Any
objections?

He shakes his head, no. Maggie turns to other Party Goers

who gawk at the sight of this big ex-jock pinned to the wall
by the woman in a leather jacket.

DENNIS
(wincing)
My arm...

Maggie lets go. Cowed, Dennis nurses his hurt arm. The seas
part as Maggie leads Caroline out.
