Reflective Report Draft 2

Based on the idealness of a research paper provided in class by the instructor, the following

aspects are some of the elements noted in the colleague's work.

Aspect 1: Logical Structure

The logical arrangement of work involves having well-structured paragraphs that have a

smooth flow of ideas. The document is not logically planned; it was a requirement of a research

paper as per the template provided by the instructor. The subtopics are mixed up, and this has

attributed to a low profile in the flowing of ideas. In the first paragraph, the writer was supposed

to have an introduction that is reinforced by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to give

the reader a clear understanding of the topic and, more so, enhances the argument based on the

model. Part B, which is describing the research method used, should have appeared before the

findings as a way of having the reader ready to know what the research is all about and what is

the central hypothesis. The action plan is not giving clear ways that the mobile phone developers

should take to ensure they serve a broader market.

Aspect 2: Range of Views

Since it was a requirement that the range of reviews must relate to the research study, the

colleagues’ paper does not merit since it failed to address perceptions of different experts or

older people. The research is focusing on the preferences and the various comparison of how

young people are using mobile phones; It is contrary to the expectation. The study is more of a

self-reflective and analytical because the writer focused more on the youths than the elderly who

are the main research objectives. The author is using the first person pronoun in the research to

express that the study is based on the author's perception rather than the data collected and

analyzed as findings.

Aspect 3: Original Illustrations

In as much as an illustration is pivotal to the relevance of research, the work did not

contain any relevant original illustrations or examples. The analysis relies more on the secondary

sources of data, and this denies it an opportunity to prove the hypothesis using the primary

sources. The study lacked relevance synthetic material that can be used to test the effectiveness

of the thesis due to relying on secondary sources. Some of the topics required relevance to the

objectivity of the group, but it was never featured. The paragraph structures contain many

sentences that have less value on the subject compared to others, and this makes the paragraph

appear irrelevant to the reader. The research has not given out the distinctive synthesis of older

people, and this might be a challenge for the reader since people have different perspectives on

the elderly based on culture, and the country of origin.

Aspect 4: Use of Evidence

In any research work, the generalization of ideas is not recommended. This research uses

the general terms, and the author does not give the exact number of where the research was

conducted. The statistics help in drawing of conclusion and the reinforcing of the theoretical part.

The researchers avoid giving the correct amounts, and this makes this research not to be so much

reliable in proving the hypothesis. The evidence collected is not used to collect by the author.

The author tries to explain aspects using comparison instead of using the available resources.

The effectiveness of the data can only be realized if the generalization of data is avoided.

Aspect 5: Presentation and Referencing

The additional sources are always relevant in research to reinforce the findings. The study

has used secondary sources and materials to prove some of the aspects under discussion. The use

of in-text citations to acknowledge the author of the sources gives the researcher credit for

getting authentic and reliable information. The sources used are correctly cited using the APA

style. The bibliography part is not well organized, and the causes are not arranged in alphabetical

order, and this will give any reader a hard time in tracing some of the additional materials for

further reading. However, some of the sources cited in the write up are not included in the

bibliography section. The failure of inclusion raises the attention on how reliable the part

containing such a situation is stable.

Aspect 6: Additional Comments

In research, the use of thesis statements and topic sentences in the structure of paragraphs

is essential. A thesis statement refers to the last sentence within the introduction, which tries to

introduce the paper slowly on the various issues to be discussed in the entire article. The

document lacks a clearly stated thesis statement that will able the reader to know the contents of

the essay. The topic sentence is the first sentence used in the starting of any paragraph to

introduce what the article is trying to verify based on the topic of research. The research paper

has numerous items that do not have topic sentences, and this makes the reader take too much

time to evaluate the theme being discussed in the article. The action plan in the research paper is

always aimed at giving suggestions that will act as a solution to help the prevention of the

reoccurrence of the situation. The research paper action plan does not provide an answer but

instead focuses on the secondary sources to give information. The use of the current sources in

research is always essential since it gives your research credit based on the year of publication of

the secondary sources. The research paper is using both old and latest sources, and this makes

one doubt the information provided since the data in those journals were collected at an early

age, and the data is prone to changes.
