    Specific T.O.F.D. Examination Paper TOFD_2/01

    Practical Examination.

    This shall be an examination of two samples.

    The first sample shall be a V1 calibration sample to establish scan parameters and provide
    proof of calibration technique and capability.

    The second sample shall be of a “known” weldment to allow the examiner to quantify the
    operators ability to carry out a scan of a real sample.

    Technique: -

    Focus at 20mm using 60-degree wedges.


    Carry out a 50mm free-run scan οn a V1 calibration block.
    Save the scan to the hard drive area C:\tofd\test\*.* name it under the protocol
    xxxcal01.scn where xxx are your initials.
    Establish that the specified PCS is correct.
    Recorded Thickness mm

    Carry out a scan of a “known” weld supplied by the examiner.


    Save the scan to the hard drive area C:\tofd\test\*.* name it under the protocol

    Confirm the material thickness.
