Fabulous Facts About USA & Great Britain

What do you actually know?

Ladies and gentlemen! We have finally approached a time of a very intelligent


game where you can demonstrate how awesome you are in country studying.
This is your time to share some of your insights! USA and Great Britain belong
to those countries which people dream to visit one day and maybe even stay
there! That is why we initiated to conduct this game for you today and see how
much you are interested in them.
Are you ready for this intelligence battle?
Then we are starting and our first question…

1. Can you guess what is depicted on these pictures?

2. Where are the tombs of many British kings, queens and other famous
people?

3. This is the most popular place in one of these 2 countries. And it looks like a
labyrinth. What is this place?

4. USA is a great country with many cities. However, two of them are very
special. The question is: What are these 2 cities and what do they have in
common?
Its capital was originally New York City. Unusual as it sounds, New York was
the first capital city of the US. New York City served as the nation's capital city
for five years between 1785 and 1790. The city played a significant role in the
establishment of a new government. Since 1790 capital of the USA has
remained Washington D.C.

5. Our next question is: What is the national language of the USA?

In practice, the national language of the United States is English. However, at


the federal level, there is no official language, although some laws use English
as the language. While English is mainly spoken throughout the US, Spanish is
the second most common language.

6. USA is a state where super cool products are made. From food to clothes!
You will find everything in this country, right? But, there is one truly iconic
product. Name this product.

It is sold in more than 200 countries. There are only two countries in the world
where Coca-Cola is not sold: Cuba and North Korea.
Coca-Cola was invented by Atlanta-based pharmacist John S. Pemberton in
1886 and his bookkeeper Frank Robinson created the unique flowing script that
became the Coca-Cola logo that is still used today.

7. Who protects the Tower of London?


Seven ravens live at the Tower today and are cared for by a dedicated Yeoman
Warder known as the Ravenmaster.

8. Now let’s skip to nature for a while! What is the highest peak in Scotland?

9. We are moving to our next point. Which American company hires the
biggest amount of people? I guess it has to be something really great.

McDonald's is among the largest employers in the country. It is believed that 1
out of every 8 Americans have been employed by McDonald’s according to the
Fast Food Nation. What’s more, McDonald's has employed a good number of
celebrities as well before they were famous.

10.National symbols is like a face of a country. And right now we are going to
talk about them. The question is: Who was the designer of US flag? Here
you have some options to choose from:
A) Abraham Lincoln, its 16th president; B) Senator John McCain; C) a
random American student.

The current US flag features 50 stars and was designed by Robert G. Heft. Heft
initially created the American flag in 1958 as the school project during his
junior year in high school. Heft scored a B- in his project but was promised by
Stanley Pratt, his teacher, that his grade would be reconsidered if the United
States Congress would accept the design for the flag. Heft's design was not only
chosen but also adopted by the 1959 presidential proclamation.

13.Continuing our topic on national symbols, we prepared another question


for you. What is US national symbol? Is it a person or a thing?
This symbol is Uncle Sam – symbol of patriotism, a personification of the
government of the United States of America. Uncle Sam was supposedly based
on a real person, Sam Wilson, a businessman during the War of 1812. The
image was used to encourage men to enlist in the military and to encourage
civilian support for the entry of the U.S. into World War I. Uncle Sam was
officially adopted as a national symbol of the United States of America in 1950.
It brings us to the end of our game. We are pleased with your active
