GLOSSARY

 
1. THROUGH: In one side and out the other side of; from end to end of/ from
one end or side of something to the other, for example:
They walked slowly through the woods. The boy waded through
the water to reach his boat.

2. HUGE: extremely large in size or amount, for example: They live in a


huge house. The costs involved in building a spacecraft are huge.

3. STAGE:  particular area of public life where important events happen

4. STOREROOMS:  a room for keeping things in while they are not being used

5. PERFORMED: to do an action or piece of work, for example: Computers


can perform a variety of tasks.

6. WET: used to describe weather or periods of time when rain falls.

7. Reply: to react to an action by someone else.

8. CLOAK: Piece of clothing, a loose outer piece of clothing without sleeves,


that fastens at the neck, and is worn instead of a coat

9. STRANGE: unusual and unexpected, or difficult to understand.

10. HOLE: an empty space in an object, usually with an opening to the


object's surface, or an opening that goes completely through an object.

11. FRIGHTENED: feeling fear or worry.

12. LOUD: making a lot of noise.

13. KNOCK: to repeatedly hit something, producing a noise

14. SCREAMED: to cry or say something loudly and usually on a


high note, especially because of strong emotions such as fear, excitement,
or anger.

15. ILL: not feeling well, or suffering from a disease, for example: I felt ill so I


went home.
16. CHEER: to give a loud shout of approval or encouragement.

17. THOUGHT: the act of thinking about or considering something,


an idea or opinion, or a set of ideas about a particular subject:

18. FOOLISH: unwise, stupid, or not showing good judgment.

19. EMPTY: not containing any things or people.

20. GUEST: a person who is staying with you, or a person you have invited to


a social occasion, such as a party or a meal:

21. TOWARDS: in the direction of, or closer to someone or something.
