About You
KINDLY NOTE: Don’t say, you can call me Ramu or by my nick name.
Home Town
I am from Saharanpur, a small village in district Kapurthala, Punjab. If I tell more about it, the
place doesn’t have many facilities. People have to visit nearby city to fulfill their every need.
Well sir, Panchkula is a well-planned and developed city. It is divided into sectors and each
sector is having a market, school, government dispensary and a temple. The city has population
of more than two million. Most of the people are professional and business class as they are
well-educated. They belong to different culture. Along with this, many visiting places attract
people to the city. The city is maintained by HUDA i.e. Haryana Urban Development
Authorities.
OR
My village is very small and doesn’t have many facilities. It has small middle school, a
dispensary and ten or twelve local shops. Most of the people in my village are farmers and
follow Punjabi culture. The local language Punjabi is used to communicate in my area.
My hometown is well-known for a cactus garden which has nearly 400 types of cactus, an
ancient museum, cricket stadium and a sports complex. Along with this, beautiful shopping
malls, a famous temple of goddess Mansa where people in large number visit at the time of
Navratri festival and a famous gurudwara Nada Sahib which is worth visiting place in my city.
My hometown is a small village. Near to my village is a famous gurudwara where fairs are
organized by the local authorities on every gurupurab. This is the only thing my home town is
famous for.
My city is a modern city which has all the facilities required by a person to live a comfortable
life. It has educational institutions like schools and colleges, medical facilities which comprises
of dispensaries and hospitals. In addition to this, job opportunities and entertainment points are
also available here.
My village doesn’t have many facilities. For every single thing or daily utilities, we have to visit
the nearby city. The city provides all the facilities related to education, medical, entertainment
and also job opportunities.
My area is an urban area so people are known for their education, awareness and professional
acumen. Most of the people belong to elite class. My city is mirror of modernization. People
here are of all class, culture and creed. High living standard is also its identification.
People in my village are known for their hard work and simplicity. Apart from this, they are
popular for their rich Punjabi culture. Most of people in my village are engaged in farming and
other small jobs.
Although my hometown is in Haryana state but it is closer to Chandigarh and cities of Punjab,
so people here use local languages like Hindi, Punjabi and Haryanvi. English is also used as
language of common interaction.
My village is one of the villages of Punjab, so most of the people speak Punjabi which is called
as local language of my area. Some others speak Hindi as well. Official language English is
used less here.
Yes, my city is historically famous. I read about the history of my hometown from internet that
Panchkula is named after the five streams of fresh water which used to flow long back through
the place. The history is related to five Pandavas stayed at this place during the period of their
exile and that time they dug the fresh water streams for themselves.
Though the history of my hometown is interesting but it is not much popular. That’s why it is
not included in the school curriculum and is not taught in schools.
Massive development and big establishments has extended my city from all the sides. The
increasing facilities have attracted people to migrate and settle at this place. All type of
advancement and development has reduced greenery as well as natural sites from the city. I
would like to see more parks and green belt to save city from pollution. Another problem is
increasing number of two wheelers and four wheelers. People prefer their own vehicles to
commute which has resulted in traffic congestion and parking problem. Especially, market
place requires huge, spacious and systematic parking.

Mostly people visit these places in the evening or on holidays.

opportunities for job placements will also attract young people to settle here.
Yes, we see foreigners at many places in my hometown. They visit cactus garden, amusement
park, and fun city and Yavnika gardens in sector-5. In addition to this, foreign tourists visit
historical place like Pinjore Garden near my city.
The transport system in my city is equally good, so one can go to these places either by a
public transport like bus or hiring a private vehicle.
HOBBIES:
My leisure pursuits are listening music, reading books and playing outdoor games. It gives me
complete relaxation and acts as stress buster. I love relaxing myself as it gives me creativity and

inculcate creativity, rejuvenate and keep us fresh. They increase knowledge awareness and
moreover give mental relaxation and satisfaction. In some cases it has helped people to get
name and fame.
Usually people have hobbies according to their likings. Most of the hobbies are different from
one another. But, these days I see boys and girls have similar hobbies. Both are interested in
listening to music, watching T.V., in exploring their worlds, chatting on internet, playing
outdoor and indoor games and reading books etc.
FAMILY:
I come from a nuclear family. We are four members: my father, mother, a younger brother and
me. Both my parents are working. My father is a government employee, mother; a teacher
whereas I and my brother are students. My younger brother is a student of 12th class and I am
studying arts while pursuing graduation.
Yes, we all family members live at one place. My father’s office and my college both are in
Chandigarh, my mother teaches in the same school where my brother studies and it is near to
my house. So, we all live under one roof and commute to our scheduled places daily.
I always obey and respect my parent’s decisions. But, sometimes I face differences in opinions.
It may be due to generation gap. Then I sit for some time with my parents to discuss my point
of view with them and feel comfortable.
FOOD:
I am pure vegetarian so I like to eat vegetarian food which comprises of high nutritive value. I
always take those foods which are riches in carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins. Most of my
diet includes fruits, green vegetables, cereals, milk and milk products. They are healthy, easily
available and not too much expensive. The most interesting point is that it is easily digestible
and keeps my body and mind healthy.
24. What kind of new food would you like to try? Why?
I have heard a lot about traditional Gujarati food. If I get a chance, I would like to try this food
as its preparation is very simple without much spicy ingredients. The food will give me a
chance to taste cuisines of new culture and overall it is good for health also.
As I am a health conscious person, I prefer to take a light and energy-giver breakfast. Usually, I
eat bread sandwich with milk and few almonds for my breakfast but sometimes I take fried
chapattis with juices also. Cereals and fruit salad is part of my lunch.
We should eat simple, hygienic and nutritious food to stay healthy. This means a diet rich in all
nutrients: vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and proteins. These all are easily available in fruits,
milk, eggs, almonds etc. Apart from this, food should be clean and free from germs.
For me, breakfast is most important. My working schedule starts at 8 am. In the morning, I have
to do a lot of work at my workplace. If I do not take a healthy and good breakfast, the metabolic
exercise makes me tired and exhausted. So, a nutritive diet in the morning is compulsory for
me.
Yes, I think people will prefer to have fast food and packed food more in future. As most of the
people in my country are becoming career oriented, so, they will be occupied with their jobs for
long hours and will not have time to cook food for themselves. Limitation of time and the need
of hour will change their diet.
Yes, surely, I love to eat fruits and vegetables. They have high nutritional value. That is why;
they are important part of my diet. Also, they come to us direct from the nature and I believe all
natural products are simply amazing and health friendly.
Fruits are major part of my diet. I eat all types of seasonal fruits to stay healthy but citrus fruits
are the most preferred one. They not only provide instant energy but are also pocket friendly.
Sometimes I buy fruits and vegetables myself and sometimes, I accompany my mother to buy
these as I feel she is a perfect home maker, good at bargains and efficient in choosing fresh
vegetables.
32. Did you eat fruits and vegetables when you were a child?
Yes, since my childhood I am in a habit of eating fruits and vegetables. At that time, my mother
used to care of my health so it was a compulsory diet for me. She always insisted on strong and
effective eating habits which included eating fruits and vegetables.
The fruits and vegetables supply important components like carbohydrate, iron, vitamins and
minerals to our body, which keep our body healthy and fit. They are also known as protective
foods which help a person to stay away from diseases. That’s why fruits and vegetables are
important.
I prefer family restaurants which serve healthy and hygienic food. I always choose the eating
points which prepare pure vegetarian food. Since I am a food lover and like to taste various
dishes. In addition to this, while selecting a restaurant I give preference to comfortable sitting
arrangement, quick table and co-operative staff service. Sometime an eye-catching interior and
overall ambiance also allure me to have food in that restaurant.
Food Plaza is my favorite restaurant. It is located in a posh area and has a huge parking facility.
It provides quality food and exceptionally good services. The ambience of the restaurant is
attractive and inviting.
All the family members in my family are busy in their profession. Due to different working
hours, it is not that much possible for all to have meals together during day time but at dinner
time, we all use to sit and enjoy meals together as this is the only time when we all are at home.
Having meals together helps to share feelings and emotions which increase warmth in relations
and helps to strengthen family bond. Apart from this, it gives feeling of oneness among family
members and moreover, anyone can discuss their view point with each other which helps to
reduce communication gap and generates more love among family members. All these things
are helpful to keep a family united and joint.
Different people have their own way of eating. Some traditional families sit on floor and eat
with hands while other modern families use dining table and use forks and spoons. Eating habits
differ from culture to culture also.
Since I belong to a pure vegetarian family so in my childhood I enjoyed vegetarian food which
included fruits and vegetables. My mother including my grandmother prepared various kinds of
tasty and delicious dishes for me. Both of them were conscious about the nutritive value and
hygienic conditions of the food.
Yes, I think children should have food in restaurants because they get to know about table
manners and it gives them a chance to relish food which is different from home-made food.
Children should enjoy variety of food and taste them but occasionally.

Well sir, the work is related to medical field. It is totally related to service towards humanity.
The major duties are to keep the patients under medical vigilance by giving medicines and other
medical treatment, helping doctors during operation in Operation Theater and minor duties
involve giving guidelines and counseling the patients towards a good health.
I like the most to interact with and counseling the patients while taking care of them. Along

is increasing worldwide and secondly, in my home country hospitals are increasing so the scope
of this profession is also expanding. Moreover, Government is also encouraging many private
universities and institutions to introduce new courses for studies in the area of nursing. This is
fostering many people to join these courses and get job in various Government sectors.

who is honest and trustworthy towards me. She is an honest friend to me from my school days.
She is very accommodating, co-operative and always ready to help. We stand together for many
reasons and have a good compatibility in between us.
I and my friend, both are working so we hardly meet on weekdays but we meet on weekends
and in vacations. We usually visit each other’s home; enjoy gossips with a cup of tea.
Sometimes we plan a picnic with kids also.

and discuss our education and career options. Sometimes we discuss our future career options
and possibilities. Sometimes we do shopping and even enjoy outings on weekends. We also

pillar whereas friends are required to share feelings, enjoy outings and feel invigorated.

felt.

Government then it is possible to improve. The first and foremost is corruption and then
unemployment which I would like to improve.

people in my country live in villages. It is known that around 80% of whole population lives

I prefer to live in a big city. Big city has all the facilities for a comfortable life like education,
medical, entrainment and job opportunities etc. Busy life never makes a person feel bored.
There are many differences in urban and rural areas. Cities are bigger with wide roads, flyovers,

Different types of music are popular in my country. People choose music according to their
choice. It is an essential part of our life which serves different purposes at different time. These
days, I observe elders like to listen soft, light Indian music which creates a soothing and
peaceful environment while young generation enjoy Rock, Jazz and other Western music which
generates a thrilling and vibrant atmosphere.

like guitar Casio drums etc.
Music is getting an important place in school curriculum and playing musical instrument is an
important part of learning. Children these days like to learn more of western musical
instruments like Casio, Guitar and Octopod and Drums. Schools, in my country also have bands
which have western instruments. This creative art makes learning more effective for children.
Music is an art which requires creativity. People, who have creative minds and good voice, try
their luck in this field. Those, who can sing or play an instrument or can compose, are actually

The main purpose of music for a common man is to entertain. But as we grow old our taste for

level reduces and we like listening soft and soothing music which give us peace of mind.
Most of the people in city have a common routine. Some work in office; they have their work
routine. Some others are busy with household work but in the evening everyone comes out of
their home. People go for walk with their family members or friends and children love to play

schedule whereas working females have a hectic schedule. They have to work both in the office
only. They have flexibility to plan for their evenings also.
No, I think the trend will not remain same. As these days most of the young couples are
working long hours, so it is not possible for females to cope up with both family and profession.
In the case, males need to help females in the household work also. May be they will have to do
babysitting also.

dance to all the students. She noticed my keen interest to learn dance so she always selected me
to participate in dance performances.
Traditional dances and folk songs are part of culture, art and tradition in my country. My
country is a multi-cultural country. Each state has its own traditional dancing. I would like to

pursue my hobbies. I go for a walk sometimes I listen to my favorite songs or watch a comedy
movie also. All these activities act like a stress buster for me.
The competitive environment, changing work culture and hectic schedule make us tired and feel

destructive. To save oneself from the devil of stress, it is important to relax. The different
activities from listening music to meditation give relief from stress. It makes us feel fresh,

them in the evening. Everyone likes to share their routine and enjoy gossips.

television, chatting on internet.

Clothes and fashions play an imperative role for a person. It is an expression of one’s own
personality. It shows the type of person one is. Not only this, it keeps one connected to the
present times. People perceive fashion as a sign of youthfulness and satisfy their desire to feel
modern.
I like to wear traditional and modern both type of clothes. I wear them according to the occasion
and comfort. Few formal occasions demand formal dress up. But it’s the casuals that I like most
as they keep me in comfort zone.
The clothes we wear speak about our personality. I think a person is better judged by his
dressing sense. Though I’m fond of fashion but the dresses which give shabby and vulgar looks,
I dislike them. I don’t like miniskirts and other shorts length clothes. I always prefer elegant
dresses suitable for my personality.

Everything changes from time to time. Time has changed clothes, fashion and style. There is a
lot of difference in the clothes which I wore 10 years back and now. At that time I was young

lord Krishna and the places which are famous for natural sceneries like hill stations.
I like to visit these places often. There are some famous places of spiritual importance near my
house like Goddess Mansa Temple, a Sai Baba temple and Nada Sahib Gurudwara. I usually
visit these places on different days of their importance. There are far away spiritual places; I
visit once or twice a year with my family.
I feel mental relaxation, contentment, satisfaction and peace when I visit these places for
worship. The peace that prevails at such places is beyond human comprehension. One finds
complete peace there. These abodes of peace help a person to enjoy in ecstasy.

their native language so they speak Punjabi but people in urban areas are literate, educationists
and professionals so they speak both English as well as Hindi.
Our National language is Hindi. There are so many other regional languages that people speak
in India. Since my country is multi state, hence many languages are otherwise spoken in my

fully in expressing ideas and also help to improve writing skills. It is an expression of individual
thoughts whether they are creative or just for the sake of writing.
Yes, definitely this creativity should be encouraged in the schools. I think school is the first and
best stage of learning. These are the formative years of learning and learning at this stage has
great impression in life. Learning at school sometimes helps to take creative writing as a career
for students.
It is easy to introduce and teach anything new during school. Creativity can be encouraged in
the schools by introducing it, as a subject or by organizing contests and competitions related to
creative writing. Good teachers should be appointed who are masters in the subject

the school as well as at home. I represented my school team for four year continuously. I am
really passionate about the sports.
I enjoy this sport more on TV with more hi-tech camera close ups which is not possible in the
stadium. The noise created by spectators makes me loose the charm of the game. This is also
one of the reasons that I hesitate to watch cricket in the stadium. I never miss an international
match.

Yes, it is true. Many children these days dream of sports as a career. They think a person has
more name and fame in this career. The increasing number of cricket academies attracts parents
and children to play this game. The institutes and academies encourage children to take this
sport as a profession. Along with this, people watch cricket as it is gaining lot of popularity and
the cricketers are becoming celebrities. So, many children decide to choose cricket as a career.
I think one should play to stay fit and active like there is a famous saying: no play makes jack a
dull boy. Playing sports keeps a person physically strong and mentally fit. So, playing is equally
important as other activities. It keeps body active and fit. Apart from this, it is a way to ease out
stress. Not only this, it helps to inculcate many values like team spirit, sportsmanship, co-
operation and adjustment. It is essential to play games to stay healthy.
UNIFORM

compulsory for all the students. I studied in an English medium school. My dress was white
shirt and blue trousers with a school tie, belt and black shoes. After wearing uniform, I always
found myself confident and smart.
School should have uniform to maintain uniformity among students and it is necessary for
discipline in the school. It is an identity of a school and also, it inculcates the feelings of
equality among students.

NEWSPAPER
Yes, I read newspapers regularly. I love reading English as well as Hindi newspapers which
keep me updated to the latest happenings in the society, nationally and internationally. While
reading newspaper, one feels connected to the society.
My day starts with reading newspaper. Usually, I like to read newspaper daily with a cup of tea.
My interest lies in English as well as Hindi newspaper. Sport and Bollywood sections are my
favorite.
I read English newspaper, specially ‘The Tribune’, the most popular English newspaper. It is a
20 paged newspaper which covers many topics like education, sport, health, medical, politics,
business and much more.
I am more inclined towards reading local, political, sports and Bollywood news; such news
aware me with daily happenings and changes in different walks of life.
I prefer both. In the morning, I read newspaper and in the evening I watch news on TV. On
television, it’s interesting to view and listen both as it is an audio and visual aid. However,
newspaper gives detailed news. It also helps to improve reading skills and vocabulary.
Not much but sometimes when I work on internet, I check the latest news updates. Its major
advantage is that news gets updated every hour.
I am in a habit of reading newspaper daily in the morning. Today, I read news related to the
sports star Sachin Tendulkar. The news was about the charity work in which he participated. He
sponsored 400 needy students for education and settlement in profession. The news was really
encouraging and inspiring.
I think newspaper is very much helpful to a person. It provides information on day to day
happenings in the society. It helps a person to keep updated and connects a person globally. It
also improves language skills.

international news. People feel connected to the whole world through newspaper.
212. How is the marketing of newspaper done in order to increase its sales?
Due to increasing competition, these days a number of techniques are adopted, like the most
popular one is door to door marketing. Another one is circulation of newspapers in schools and
third one is advertising. These all techniques promote circulation to a greater extent.
The only disadvantage, I feel, is that a number of products of different brands create confusion
for a consumer and sometimes it misleads customers. Many times, I have seen, cheap products
are sold through ads.
215. How one can decide for a best option out of many ads?
I think, it is very difficult to choose for the best option after watching advertisements as every
advertisement is attractive and shows best about the features. But one can visit different outlets
of a product and can see and try and then select the best. Despite of it, one can speak about the
product to different people to know about the best product.
Business and advertisement has a direct relation these days. Business is supposed to be in the
market due to advertisement. The popular mediums of advertisement are TV, newspaper,
magazines, internet and Facebook. All these are direct mediums to speak about the product.
Nowadays in fact FM radio has also become the face of youngsters.
Celebrities act as role models and icons for people in the society. They have a great face value.
People follow their words and acts. That is why, companies appoint celebrities as brand
ambassadors to increase their product’s sale value.
CREATIVITY
218. Do you think art is important in our life, like painting and sculpture-making?
Arts like painting and sculpture-making help a person to express his thoughts and feelings.
These activities give expression to imagination. They enhance innovation and creativity. That is
why they are important in our life. It also helps people to establish a career which is greatly
appreciated and admired.
219. Did you draw anything when you were in the school?

Yes, there is an art gallery and museum in my hometown. It is located in sector-10 near fine arts
Colleges. Fine arts students and other artists display their exhibits in it and time to time, the
government organizes functions and exhibitions there.
An art gallery is a place where art works of those people are kept who are alive however
museum is a place where art work is related to history and is of people who have passed away.
Most of the things there are souvenirs and antiques.
BICYCLE
Bicycle is a fuel saving and environment friendly vehicle. Firstly, it does not require diesel or
petrol, so it saves the fuel. Secondly, it doesn’t create pollution. Along with this, it is also safe
and convenient to ride for short distances. So in my opinion, bicycle is the best transport in my
country.
223. Do you think that there should be separate lane for bicycles?
Definitely, there should be a separate lane for bicycle riders. This will facilitate bicycle riders to
ride on roads comfortably and conveniently without the fear of heavy vehicles. Children also
use bicycle to reach their school. So, it is necessary to have separate lanes for bicycle riders.
Riding bicycle is a type of exercise. In addition to this, children enjoy riding. Many times, I
noticed that children think that as their parents move in their own vehicle to their office, so they
also feel proud to ride on their bicycle to their school. So, this gives them a sense of
independence in driving a vehicle, riding bicycle is also a first step in driving a vehicle in a
child’s life.
Yes, these days, it is becoming a popular means of transport in my country. These days, people
of all ages love to ride bicycle. Most of the people are now aware that riding bicycle is not only
helpful for their health but also for environment. So, to save both, they use bicycle for short
distances.
In my country both public as well as private transport system is popular. Public transport
includes buses, auto rickshaws, trains and taxis. Whereas private vehicles are two wheelers like
scooters and motor bikes and four wheelers are cars, along with this, airbuses are also becoming
popular these days.
227. Does popularity of transport depend on the age group in your country?
I don’t think so. Most of the people in my country take transport according to their comfort,
convenience and affordability. Every individual has his or her own choice of transportation
people like to travel in all types of transports.
SWIMMING
My city is a big and developed city. There are two swimming pools in my city. One is in sector-
6, gymkhana club and other is situated in sector-21 sports complex. The club members enjoy
swimming in both. People enjoy it as an exercise to keep themselves in proper shape and
healthy.
People in my city are well educated and health conscious. To stay healthy people of all ages
visit swimming pool. More of young people and children visit the places to enjoy water
splashes in the scorching heat of the summers.
Yes, last summer, I planned to send my daughter to make her learn swimming. So, I also went
along with her to the sports club near my house which has a big swimming pool. I saw there
people learning to swim and having fun in water.
Children, in my view, can start swimming at any age from 5years. It is a good exercise as well
as helpful to save one’s life and others at the time of any mishap related to water. Children at
tender age should start learning under the guidance of an instructor and with complete
precautions.
In my opinion, it should not be taught in schools because in my country, the culture is not open
and it does not allow these activities to be conducted in the school. I think most of the parents
will not allow this. Though for small children it can be there.
PLACE OF LIVING
Well, sir I live in sector-4 Panchkula. It is a posh area and most of the people in my sector are
well educated and professionals. The place is well developed and maintained The sector is big
with nearly 1000 houses, two well established schools, a dispensary, a community hall and a
huge market is also there in my sector.
I choose this city to live because of my profession. My company is in the city and on the other
hand, it has all the facilities required to live a comfortable life. I have my house in this city for
years.
235. Will you suggest your friends also to live in this city?
It will do it definitely. This city has a lot of scope of career growth for youth. It provides
opportunity to enhance qualification and skills and above all, the city has all the types of
comforts a person requires to enjoy life. Not only this, the recreational centers also attract
people to live and enjoy the place.
TRAVELING
My office is hardly at 30 minutes’ drive from my house, so I travel to my work through my own
vehicle.
OR
My college is far away from my house, so I usually go to college by public bus. Sometimes my
father also drops me in his car.
237. Have you always traveled to work/college in the same way? (Why/ why not)
Yes, to my office I have always traveled the same way. Moving on own vehicle saves my time.
Gives independence and moreover, I enjoy driving.
OR

the students are not allowed to bring their own vehicles, so if I miss the bus, my father drops me
to the college.
238. What do you like about traveling to work /college this way?
I like the way through which I go to office the most. The road has green shady trees. I really
enjoy the cool and fresh breeze in summers and sun rays through these trees in winters. It
creates an awesome view and makes my journey a pleasure.
I concentrate on driving while moving to my office because there is always a huge rush on the
road in the morning and evening office hours. To avoid adverse consequences, I have to focus
on driving.
SEASONS
There are mainly four types of seasons in my country. The seasons are summer, spring, autumn
and winter. All the seasons have their own charm and beauty to describe. Every season brings
seasonal fruits and vegetables. Along with this, all seasons come with festivals which spread joy
and happiness in everyone’s life.
I like spring season most. This season comes in the month of February and March. In this
season natural beauty is awesome. These have new leaves and gardens are full of colorful
flowers. Greenery prevails everywhere in the nature. In my country, local authorities organize
flower festivals in this season which is enjoyed by city residents.
I like winters most, so I planned an outing to a nearby hill station to enjoy cold weather. We
spent 5 days there. I enjoyed visiting such places. The weather was good and I did shopping
there. Along with this, for the first time, I experienced the snowfall.
As I am living in the northern part of my country, winters are at peak every year in the month of
December and January. So every year in these two months, I enjoy cold weather.
244. How often is the Weather cold at the place where you come from?
Winter in my area starts in the month of November and it prevails till the end of February. So,
for nearly 4 months, the weather is cold. Life in these months becomes hard due to fog.
245. Are some parts of your country colder than others? (Why)
Yes, the hilly areas are colder than plains in my country. Most of this hilly areas experience a
very heavy snow fall in winter season. And some other hill stations are cut off due to heavy
snow and rains in those parts. These places are at high altitudes; that is why, they are colder
than other areas in my country.
I would like to live in a place of moderate climate. Hot weather reduces efficiency due to heat
and sweating. Cold weather sometimes does not allow working for long hours outside so
moderate weather is appropriate in all conditions.
LAUGHING
When people do funny things and crack jokes, I always laugh. Apart from this, comedy movies
also make me laugh a lot. Whenever, I am with my friends, we all share lighter moments of life.
Yes, I like to make other people laugh. At my work place, sometimes I observe that my
colleagues feel bored due to work load. At that time to create humorous environment, I make
them laugh by cracking jokes or telling them funny episodes of life or from movies.
OR
In my friend circle, some of my friends are always serious and sad. To make then enjoy their
life and to make them happy and laugh, I do funny acts and crack jokes. In this way, I like
making other people laugh.
In my opinion, life is a precious gift of God. God wants everyone to enjoy life and remain
happy. But man is trapped in spider web of materialistic world, so has forgotten to laugh.
Laughing is necessary for life as it increases blood circulation and improves immune system of
a person which in return keeps him healthy and happy.
To me, it is difficult to explain in words. I think laughing is an outer expression and happiness
is an expression of mind which is expressed in the form of laughing. It is not certain that a
laughing person is happy but a happy person laughs, it is certain. Laughing is an instant reaction
to a funny thing whereas happiness is an inner expression and it has a longer phase than
laughing.
In my view, as our own life is important to us, so is happiness. A happy mind always does
constructive and progressive things. Every time it brings positive achievement and generates
happiness for others also. A happy person is always liked by others.
WRITING LETTERS
Yes, I write formal as well as informal letters. As I am a professional so many times I write
letters manually to my seniors. I also write e-mails to my friends residing overseas. In my
profession of course to keep records, e-mails are used more.
Computer is an important part of my job. Regularly I have to work with internet. I write both
types of letters. Usually to my friends, I write manually but in my office, I have to write using
computer also. As most of the work is done electronically, e-mails are used more to write
letters.
School days are the formative years of learning. The things taught at this stage have a long
retention. Letter writing skill is required at every stage of life so this skill should be taught from
childhood at school. I have observed that in my country, it is included in the syllabus and
children start writing letters from class first.
255. Compare the way you learnt to write and the way children today learn to write?
There is a huge difference between the way we were taught to write and children are taught to
write but long back, we used to write with pencils and in ink only and apart from this,
traditional methods of writing were also popular in those days. Nowadays, creative writing is
also a part of learning in the schools.
CONTACTING FRIENDS
The friends who live near to my house and in my city, I contact them personally and on phone.
However the friends who live in other cities or overseas, I contact them through e-mail, face-
book, and through phone also. Often we all friends contact each other.
No, it is not necessary. It totally depends on the distance and their feasibility. Due to changing
time zones, I prefer to contact my friends who are in my city, it is easy for us to meet face to
face and in urgency we use phones also.
258. Do you find it easy to keep in contact with friends and family?
These days, I observe due to various communication devices and because of their easy
operation, it is easy to keep in contact with friends and family members. Moreover, chatting and
video conferencing has also made interaction and communication easy and feasible.
259. In your country, did people in the past keep in contact in the same ways as they do today?
No, in the past, the modern communication devices were not available and affordable, so people
used to stay in contact through letters or meeting each other personally. On contrary, nowadays
people use various means like mobile phones, e-mail, Facebook and tweeters etc. All mediums
are easily available and economical.
260. Why do you think it is important to stay in contact with each other?
Man is a social being and he always requires a company. Social life is a necessary to pass time,
broaden outlook and increase Knowledge and awareness. In addition to this, keeping in contact
gives feeling of belongingness and oneness.
BIRDS
261. Are there a lot of birds in the place where you live?
I am living in a city which is highly populated so I rarely see birds. Since there are lesser
number of trees, so there are hardly any birds to see. Some people have small gardens in front
of their house and these gardens attract birds.
Birds are important part of nature to maintain ecological balance. They are essential to uphold
food chain by eating small insects and reptiles. By doing so, they help the environment to
remain healthy and disease free.
My favorite bird is peacock. It is bluish green in color with long attractive feathers and a crown
on its head, its beauty is awesome when it dances in rainy season. In addition to this, peacock is
our national bird.
In urban areas, due to less population of birds, people don’t find birds in surrounding area so, it
is not much popular but if they visit a place where they can find birds, people enjoy bird
watching there especially near water bodies or nearby forests and green belt areas.
OR
As I am living in a village which is surrounded by greenery hence birds are commonly found at
the place. People enjoy feeding various birds, their chirping and watching them. Some people
keep birds and some keep birds as pets also.
ANIMALS
I like pet animals. The animal which is favorite to me is dog as it guards the house and can even
sacrifice its life for the sake of its master. I have a dog and we care for pet like a family
member.
266. Do you still love the same animal that you loved in your childhood?
Yes, I love the same animal. Since my childhood, I have a dog at my house and now it is like
our family member. Its name is Bruno and I love it very much.
267. Which are the common animals that are kept as pets in your country?
Dogs are the most common one. Apart from this people tame cats also and people on villages
keep dairy animals like cows, goats, buffaloes and load carrying animals like horse, donkey and
camel.
People are mostly afraid of snakes which can be found anywhere. Along with this people get
frightened from lions, tigers, beers and other animals which can harm a person but these
animals are mostly found in forests and zoo.
FLOWER
Yes I like flowers. Rose is my favorite flower and I love to offer it to God in the morning. Its
color and fragrance attracts me most, I use it for decoration also.
Flowers are considered as symbol of life and beauty in my country. They give freshness and life
to the place. People keep flowers in homes and offices to add beauty and splendor to the place.
In these days, flowers are used to decorate places where festivals and occasions are held. They
add charm to the place.
People give flowers in the form of bouquets to convey best wishes on different occasions. Also
people send flowers to a person who is sick for his early recovery and in addition to this,
Flowers are presented to express love and affection to each other.
On every festivals and occasion, flowers are used for decoration, worship, and as an offering, so
occasions and celebrations without flowers are incomplete now a day in my country. People
convey messages of love by offering flowers to their loved ones; these speak the language of
heart.
A number of festivals are celebrated in different parts of my country in the spring season like
Rose festival, spring festival and Chrysanthemum carnival. All these celebrations are organized
in big gardens which contain colorful flowers beds. Along with this, in these festivals one gets a
chance to see pot flowers, garlands, flowers decoration and flowers arrangements which
enhance the beauty.
Flowers add beauty and life to the place. To feel there beauty people grow flowers in their
Kitchen gardens and pots. They maintain big gardens in front of their houses these days floral
agriculture is also becoming popular in my country.
HOUSEHOLD WORK
I really like to do household work, it generates satisfaction and feeling of love towards home
and moreover it keeps my house neat, clean and tidy. Giving a personal touch to house hold
works gives me a feeling of satisfaction and contentment.
276. Do you think people do more of house work these days in your country?
In these days people are more careers oriented and they are more inclined towards earning
money, the attitude towards doing household work is changing. People don’t give importance to
it or they don’t have time for it. So, most of the people have started keeping maids and servants
for household work.
277. Do you think children should be introduced to household work early in life?
In my opinion, of course in a very early age of 8-10 years, they should be introduced to help
other family members. They should be encouraged to do household work according to their
capability like keeping them to learn things and because self-reliant, self- dependent and also
generate an attitude of help in a family
278. What were the chores with which you helped your mother at home as a child?
I helped my mother in cleaning the house, keeping household objects at right place and also
serving other family members as a child.
GIFTS
Gifts are memories and I like receiving gifts. They are expression of positive feelings towards
the person to whom the gift is given so gifts are remembrance for a long time.
Nowadays it’s not difficult any more to find a gift. We only need to know the occasion and
sometimes the liking of the recipient of the gift. The market places are full of various kinds of
items and gifts which can be given and for various occasions like birthdays and important
family functions.
Yes, it is very simple and convenient to buy any kind of gift through internet. Technology has
made all this possible through online payment facility. Choosing from a wide variety of gifts on
the internet has become so simple nowadays that anyone can buy things. Free home delivery is
other good facility provided by the companies.
In my view, searching a gift from a shop is better. A clear look, bargaining for the price and
variety are the most important factors. When we buy it directly from the shop we can also feel
it. So, shopping for a gift personally is the best option. A personal touch for a loved one is
necessary.
MUSEUM
Yes, there are many museums in my country which are related to its history. Many museums
tell about the struggle of our country for independence and nowadays many cities have spiritual
museums like the Krishna museum at Kurukshetra which shows the life of Lord Krishna,
museum of 10 Sikh Gurus at Amritsar which depicts life stories of Sikh gurus and their
teachings.
Yes, I have visited many museums in different parts of my country. Every museum tells the
story of past. Each has its own charm and beauty. I have visited Gandhi museum at Gujarat. The
museum has everything related to Gandhi. Each and every corner speaks about Gandhian time.
The place gives a feeling of presence of Gandhi in present time.
Last year, I went for an outing with my family to Gujarat, one of the famous states of my
country. There I visited Gujarat one of the famous states of my country. There, I visited Gandhi
museum in Porbandar, the birth place of bapu. The museum completely speaks about Gandhi. It
shows how he lived and what he used. Visiting the museum gives a feeling that Gandhi is still
alive. It shows how he lived and fought with weapon of non-violence against Britishers. The
museum also displays the personal belongings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Yes, I always liked visiting museum. Since my childhood, I visited many museums. My mother
always took me to the places of learning. Museum is one of them. I visited doll museum, art and
craft museum many times as a child.
SCIENCE EDUCATION
Science is one of the compulsory subjects in school curriculum. I read the subject from class
first onward. I like science subject as it is full of facts and experiments. It gives logical
reasoning for a concept. It provides the responsible facts behind the material development of
this world and also it explores surroundings.
Till my 10th class I studied science as a compulsory subject and I enjoyed science lessons. I
enjoyed biology lessons more especially that were related to plants and flowers.
I found physics numerical and chemistry concepts most difficult. These two branches I felt were
totally dry subjects to study. Most of the times, I crammed the concepts to get marks. I had less
interest in them. Even my tuition classes were not helpful to create interest in the subject.
RELIGION
My home country is multi-religious country. There are four main religions Hindu, Muslim,
Sikh, and Christianity. All people have their own holy places. They all visit these places and
celebrate festivals related to their religion with great enthusiasm. One can see unity in diversity
in my country.
LIBRARY
Libraries play a vital role in the society. These are a good source of Knowledge. It is a place
where people who love reading can invest their valuable time to get multiple returns.
Yes, I like to visit libraries. As reading good books is my hobby so I like to spend my free time
in the library. I spend my time reading in peaceful environment. Sometimes I also borrow books
from the library.
No there should be a nominal membership fees for libraries as this will give library members a
sense of responsibility. Furthermore, the membership fee will help to maintain the library and
its other recurring expenses.
DRIVING
Yes, I drive a two wheeler and a car. Driving helps me to move independently to do my work. It
helps me to reach my office well in time. Not only this, it saves my time and energy.
According to me, it is not necessary but it has become the need of time. Skills of driving make a
person independent. It not only helps a person but also other family members. Moving on own
vehicle saves time and one can provide help in case of any emergency.
A person who is matured and has knowledge of safe driving is capable to drive. A person who
is above 16 years can drive light vehicles like two wheelers but a person of age 18 years and
above should be given a license to drive four wheelers. In my opinion heavy vehicles should be
drive only by people of 21 years of age or more.
It is not compulsory but it is helpful. A trainer guides appropriately and maintains regularity of
training which makes a person learn driving easily. Apart from this, the driving school ensures
to give some information on the various parts of the vehicle and its maintenance.
Presently, it is not like that in my country, but it can be introduced as a subject in curriculum.
The theoretical and practical classes will help a student to learn driving efficiently which is an
important skill and useful for whole life. This may help to follow traffic rules perfectly and to
reduce road accidents too.
INTERNET
Internet has broadened the horizon of a person. It has brought globalization and modernization
in societies. People easily get to know about the happenings around the world. They get easily
connected to anyone anywhere sitting at their own place.
When I was in class 8th, my computer teacher introduced me to internet. In those days, computer
was new in the school and it was compulsory to study computer as a subject. I was always keen
to learn computer and I always scored ‘O’ grade in this subject.
All literate and educated people use internet these days. As internet provides all kinds of
information and it connects people globally, so it is equally helpful to a housewife, a student
and a professional. Even old people like to chat and use of social sites has increased its need
and usage.
Internet delivers all kinds of updated information to a person. So, the search engine is really
helpful in day to day life. One can get all types of information like about admission, job
cooking and fashion etc. It is increasing social circle through social sites, this modern device
has made people busy.
These days, as I was preparing for my exams so I was visiting exam preparation sited more for
practice tests. In addition to this, I am planning to pursue high studies from reputed colleges so I
regularly visit national as well as international professional college’s sites from where I find
information related to course and admission.

SEEMA BRAIN OPENERS KURUSKHETRA
In my opinion, children should use internet in limit. As I think. If they spend a lot of time it
kills precious study time and on the other hand, there are certain sites which may mislead and
distract a child’s developing mind. If necessary, it should be done under the guidance of elders.
TOYS
Toys are the best friends of a child in her childhood. They are their possessions. Playing with
toys helps a child to develop creative mind. Educational toys help to learn and develop skills
too. Playing with educational toys is a perfect example of learning while playing.
A beautiful Barbie doll in red gown with curly golden hair was my favorite toy during my
childhood. I always kept the doll with me while sleeping, eating and playing with my friends. I
used to make her sit on my maternal aunt and it was my companion childhood.
309. What types of toys are popular among children these days?
Liking towards toys is different for different children. Popularity varies according to age and
gender. The most popular toys among children these days are electronic toys particularly remote
control robots and spider man batman etc. Apart from this, girls like to have Barbie house and
Barbie dolls.
TIME
No, I do not wear a watch as I don’t feel comfortable. Moreover I have a mobile which is
always with me and I use its watch to see the time.
Time is very important for everyone. It is well said, Time waste is life waste. Time makes a
person grow, understand and become mature, so time is very important in all aspects. I think
time is neither renewable nor reversible.
In my opinion time moves in its own pace but when a person is depressed, sad and trapped in
difficulties then he feels that time is moving slow and on the other side, in happy days it seems
that time is flying on wings, it is moving very fast.
I prefer reaching on time or before time always but unfortunately when I am late, I feel
embarrassed and upset. It also affects my work on that day. So to avoid this I keep myself on
time by starting early and reaching safely.
NEIGHBOR
My house is in posh area and I have two neighbors. On left side Mr. Sharma, who is a business
man and on the right side Mr. Gupta, who is a lecturer in a local Government college. We all
live happily by helping each other.
As all are busy in their professional and family lives but then also in the evening time, we all sit
together and enjoy a cup of tea. In addition to this, we like to celebrate festivals together.
Good neighbors are always helpful. They are the first and closet relative to be called for help at
the time of any emergency. They provide care, support and always ready to help.
Neighbors who start unnecessary interfering and peeping into the family matters of other
become irritating. These activities of people are mostly not liked others.
