Description of artifact/assignment:
I made an acrylic sign I did in the maker space. It was worth 40 points and I got 40 out of 40.
There were 4 parts to make one project. The first part was to make the base part out of wood for
the acrylic sign to stand on. We then made a base for the wires to stay together in the wood. For
the wires, we had to attach it a battery an a switch so it can turn off the light. Finally, we mad the
design we wanted for the acrylic sign.
What academic skills did you use that are specific to this artifact/assignment?
I used the academic skill, comfort with technology to make this artifact. I chose this because I
only used technology to make this project. It was hard at first, but my friend helped me out and I
became more aware with technology.
What general academic skills did you use (skills that would be used in any academic class)?
I used communication because I had to ask my teacher if I’m right or when I needed to ask for
help. I also used the skills I already knew about with the software I used to create it.
CHS Portfolio
Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the
course of working on this Artifact/Assignment? Explain.
Yes, because now I have more knowledge about technology that people have access to now and
days. Also, I feel like I don’t have to ask for much help anymore because I’m more aware of how
to certain things.
Provide an example of how these academic and/or soft skills are used in a career in which you
are interested.
I will need to know how to maybe insert files onto a computer for a patient, to keep track of the
patients’ history or also need to be able to pull up a patient’s file or need to see how to treat a
certain patient.
