IS THE BALLOON GOING TO
EXPLODE WHEN WE ADD
BAKING SODA TO THE COKE?
HYPOTHESIS
The hypothesis that me and my little sister have is that the balloon is
going to explode because the ingredients that we are going to use (
a coca cola and baking soda) both are concentrated in carbon
dioxide.
MATERIALS

• COCA COLA ( 500 Ml = 37 grams)

• Baking soda ( 4.5 grams)
• Balloon
• An empty coca cola
• Container
• Teaspoons
PROCEDURE

• We first put the baking soda in the

container
• Then, we grab a teaspoon and added
1 tsp ( 4.5 grams) into the balloon
• We then put the balloon with the
baking soda above the coca cola
• We turned the balloon down
• Finally we were holding the balloon to
see the reaction

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the balloon did not explode
like me and my sister thought that it was
going to do so. However, we learned that
adding this two ingredients produce gases
that bubble up from the mixture, making the
gas expand up in the bottle and inflates the
balloon.
